Platform sandals - white or tan?

I am debating which color sandal to choose for spring/summer. I had first picked the white a few days back, then switched to tan thinking it would keep my legs looking long, and now, in leiu of today's blog post, I am back at a toss up. http://www.6pm.com/lucky-brand-abeo-coin or http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISA.....:MEBIDX:IT

I would choose the tan. I think it would lengthen the legline (although you already have fantastic legs and don't really need much help there), and I also find tan a really versatile sandal color in warm weather.

I'd also choose the tan if it blends well with your skin color, although the white is also nice with the tan heels to keep them from being too much white.

I like the white for the Florida sunshine. Actually looking back at my holiday photos this year I was really quite disappointed by my tan sandals, they blended a little too well and offered little definition to the overall look.

I vote for the tan as well. I have a pair of white sling back sandals that I find very difficult to wear. The white just seems so stark compared to my tan/nude sandals. Tan is so much easier to wear, IMHO.

Hmm, I will have to start tallying the votes I can see plusses and drawbacks to both, actually. I'm still on the proverbial fence. But ebay bidding may just decide for me tomorrow. Right now tan is $20 cheaper but if/when the bidding gets to equal price with white I will really be in a pickle with my decision!

I vote tan. I have white shoes and tan sandals for summer. Forgetting that one is sandal and one is a shoe, I kept reaching for the tan sandals all the time, because they "went" with more of my outfits. I found the white very hard to match up with outfits.

Another vote for tan. I think tan shoes are flattering on almost anyone, whereas white is pretty stark and you might need to include white somewhere else in the outfit for it to look put together.

Those white sandals are lovely, but I would go for tan, because they go with everything and make the legs very elegant!

White is tricky to wear as you need to wear white somewhere else in the outfit, so I think the tan would be most versatile x

I'm leaning toward white, as long you wear something else white in your outfit. Tans can be hard to complement your skin tone. But if you want the shoes to blend in with your legs, then go with the tan.

Concerning the adding white to match ideas - I do carry an off white cotton canvas bag 99.9% of the time And yes, I do live in FL for now and to add another spanner into the mix, I own some platform tan sandals already, but they are much daintier so I don't see this as a duplication. (See pic below) Now where are we lol?!?
I really think price may end up deciding for me, as much as I want to get past that this year, it's still a very real factor that's hard to ignore.

I am loving hearing all the votes and why!

I think it depends on what you want the footwear to "say" in your outfits. The white will pop more than the tan, and the tan will give you a longer leg-line. As a fellow petite, I almost always side with the longer leg-line option, but I must also say that I enjoy wearing my white slingback heels in the summer even though it doesn't lengthen me quite as much as a nude pair would.

Aida, very good point! I want them to be a sort of sassy addition to many a cotton summer outfit, but not too overwhelming - thus the toss up.

I was thinking white could be a fun addition (particularly if you already have some tan sandals), but the particular style of these is pushing me back into tan camp--these are quite strappy, almost "cage" style shoes and therefore I'm thinking you may prefer them in a more neutral color that doesn't jump out as much as white naturally does. I like the white ones that Aida pictured, but you'll note that those are a more simple sandal style and so you notice the white but it's not overwhelming. I'm afraid that the style of these wouldn't lend themselves to the same effect, if that makes any sense.

Also, what is the ebay return policy on these? I know you've written previously about getting stuck with items you can't return (because they were a better price) so just wanted to flag that. If you can't return them, I'd defnitely purchase from a return-able source, even if they end up being pricier. Shoes are particularly tricky that way...

I don't see the tan as sassy at all. If you want sass, I definitely vote white. Auburn brings up a good point that the cage style of these sandals would show a lot more white than a non-cage sandal like mine. I think, though, you'd still be fine with the white especially with lighter toned hair. Maybe Angie will chime in with a more expert opinion

Normally I would say tan, bu since you want something sassy than I would go for white! Add a white watch and you are all set

I vote for white! The tan is definitely lovely, but you are in FL and your coloring is lighter so the white won't be as stark as it might on others.

It will give a bright spot to your outfit. If you feel okay repeating that white in your clothes or accessories (and if you don't fear keeping the white nicely white. . . ?)

Well, I ended up with the tan color. They just came today - and I LOVE them! I read that the white ones weren't a true white. They are coin colored, whatever that is, so I'm happy with the tan choice. Also I think with how heavy the platform look can be, tan lightens it a little. But who knows, maybe I'll cave and get the coin ones, too, in a few months if they're still available!
I have my dead of winter colored legs, so I imagine come summer time the shoes will be lighter than my skin tone, not the other way around.

Hey, thanks, Una! I think they are going to be worn a lot - especially since the 70's trend is coming around. I've always loved platform but done in a sleeker way. These hit that perfect note for me - not too clunky. (and they even have little peace signs on the zippers for that extra 70's kick lol) Now to get my big floppy beach hat on and I'll be stylin' for sure
