In looking through my shoes and boots and thinking of which are most comfortable, I noticed that the ones with a platform felt the best. Now, I know that obviously the platform makes it easier to wear a higher heel, because the ball of the foot is raised too. But the "true" heel height of these shoes is not lower than that on other shoes and boots that I have, so it can't simply be a matter of heel height. I'm wondering if anyone else has noticed this, or if it's simply a coincidence? I'm wondering if having the extra rubber at the bottom of the ball of the foot helps absorb shock better and creates a more comfortable shoe.
