Plaid Shirt & Fairisle Skirt Combo - Opinions req.d on this one

I'm joining the plaid shirt party (but I think I was there anyway with my 2 other shirts I already owned!!)

Anyhow, had a moment of madness on Saturday and bought a knitted fairisle skirt (similar to pic) & plaid blouse from Primark. The skirt is very short - it has a roll over waist line - but it is beyond cute - I will be pairing it with leggings or very thick tights.

I must stipulate there is absolutely no way I would have worn this when I was younger - weird how I feel now that I just want to dress in my own way and to hell with the fact that I'm 38 years old. I realise that some people will feel this skirt is inappropriate for my age group and I'm fine with that. Each to their own.

Anyway, what do you think of this? Can you suggest an alternative way to wear the skirt?

I love the look but it seems a bit young! I don't know if it's the skirt and the blouse together, maybe you should try to separate them!

Ack! So cute! I love it! I would never have thought about wearing a Fair isle skirt but now you have me wishing I had one (we are about the same age)! I think the plaid shirt and sweater skirt by itself is a little young looking (I could see my daughter wearing that combo) but the leather jacket and boots toughens it up sufficiently so I think it's fine!

As for other ways to wear the skirt, I think it's just begging to be paired with some black faux fur, either a furry jacket/vest or some boots. I think wearing it with a blouse and/or blazer and gold or silver belt would also make it seem more grown up.

I really like it paired with a blazer or vest like Goldepig posted. It's gorgeous and grown up that way.
