I had this same issue in recent years. I’ve gotten super picky! I want cotton poplin type fabrications — most others leave me sweaty.
Gap actually has a cute set I got recently. You can get the pieces individually, which is good if, like me, you like the pants or shorts to be extra roomy but not so much the top. Pics 1-3 below. I got the short-sleeved top and pants in the green stripe.
Anthro also has served me very well with pajamas over the years. They’re not as inexpensive as the Gap, but they do seem to hold up well — I have a set that must be 7 years old. I recently got a pair of the 100% cotton Wren boxer-style pants (pics 4-5 show the pants and the shorts) in a stripe that I wear with an old Madewell tee. They are generously sized!
It seems like a lot of my old favorites (PJ Salvage, Splendid, etc) have moved away from poplin/cotton to Jersey blends, which are ok but not the most cooling in my experience. Bedhead made some great ones years ago — I still have a pair from 10 years ago that is getting a little worn but they’re still serviceable. I haven’t looked at them lately.
Good luck! Finding better sleepwear has made a big difference in this stage of my life.
