Well, my suspicion was right. The 11s ended up being the correct size. With lace tightening and my usual inserts/padded socks, my feet will be happy, and I am delighted with these gorgeous boots.
The 10s, which came today, were a beautiful fit on my foot, but slightly too short on my right foot. I knew with wear that would be a real aggravation, and ultimately, I fear, a source of friction/blistering. Plus, the 10s wouldn't comfortably allow me to wear the padded boot socks and inserts I need to take up width and add a bit of necessary cushioning—the curse of my bony, low-volume feet. Vicar is a bit lacking in the padding department.
While I didn't find either the 10s or the 11s narrow, as some reviewers noted, I do have narrow feet. Vicar runs on the narrow side of M is the best way to put it. If you wear a true M width and size up as suggested, I think most would find these booties comfortable. If you are a M verging on W, then Vicar is probably not for you.
Now that I know my correct Vicar size, I'm just trying to stop myself from ordering them in another color!!
Along with a pair of Teva sandals for my husband, my other Anniversary Sale purchase was a Natori bra— the Flora lace underwire. Normally I purchase the Feathers style, but decided to order and compare the two. The lace is beautiful, and it's very soft and smooth. Flora fit my very modest endowment perfectly in my normal 34C bra size. It's a keeper. If you have a large bust, it's probably not going to give you the support you need.
Finally, not an Anniversary Sale item, but a sale item from the Rack, is Madewell's small Transport crossbody camera bag in dark brown Croc embossed leather. I only use crossbody bags and this was an unexpected winner for me. While the croc bag is sold out, there are three other patterned small Transport camera bags still available in olive, spotted calf hair, and a snake pattern, all on sale from 42% to 52% off.
