ETA ppl? Column of purpley blue to pick rose hips

I’m not sure how the apples on the tree by the Spree are doing, but I did go pick some rose hips in the rain the other day, and got dressed for the occasion.

I haven’t been as ambitious about columns of color as I expected. Chilly rainy weather can have that effect on me. This one centers on my purple velour top. To it, I added dark jeans, my navy oxfords (I plan to keep the jeans long to go with these shoes, might get them hemmed a cm or two) and my light purple raincoat. The belt buckle, my barrette, and parts of the necklace are all similar bronze tones. The shoes are old faves, but have just gotten new laces—ribbons this time.

What do you think? Suggestions for improvement are appreciated.

The jeans are making their debut, after the forum helped me pick them out. Come to think of it, the jeans, top, and jacket all were reviewed by the forum as part of buying them. I think that’s a first for me!

Rachylou, you mean besides my lumpy butt?? I’m leaning back in a slightly unnatural position to show the Barette. Between that and my heels, my backside is scrunched up. Or are you seeing something about the jeans?

There’s some scrunching, but they also look like they’re cutting in where the seat meets the leg…

RL, i see those creases, but “cutting” sounds painful—it’s not. But agreed it’s not the best look. Probably should’ve cropped that one to be just torso/hair.

Stag, do the jeans feel a size a big, or maybe they've stretched out? Maybe you've pulled them up to prevent that "falling off feeling" and to shorten the length a bit, and that has caused the creasing and pulling that Rachy sees. If you pull the jeans down a bit, the creasing will probably go away. Then, I hope they don't feel too big!

The length is luxurious and very elongating like this! I used to wear my bootcuts this way. But living in wet Seattle made that a disaster - very soggy hems - so I had to reserve the length for dry days. Stay dry!

Thanks all! I’m enjoying my rose hip tea, am still looking for jam recipe—have seen lots for jelly, but would like to leave the fruit in.

Angie, I thought of your comments about long, swishy jeans dragging in muck as I put these on. I thought they were maybe a centimeter too long, if that, so figured it’d be ok. Nope. Capillary action, baby—the bottom 3” or 4” were wet by the time I got home. Also, check out the fraying from just one wear. I recall 70s jeans that had that free and easy feeling. I was too young to wear the look, but have vague memories of seeing bell bottoms paired with a loose blouse and maybe a hat with a sunflower. Fraying in the back was part of the cool. I’m not sure that’s the vibe I want to go for though, in particular because of the dark wash. I like the adjectives you chose—luxurious and elegant—and am trying to figure out how to hem for that feeling. I do want to keep these long, to wear with these shoes and maybe the red clog sandals when it’s a little warmer out. They are exactly the same height. So what would be ppl? Take off half an inch?

I had a pair of wide legs in the 2000's that touched the floor and they became holey after one wear! Bulgaria is famous for their rose valleys and therefore have excellent rose-hip jam. Perhaps if you google for a traditional Bulgarian recipe...

Stag, hem them so that they are a quarter of an inch off the ground with the shoes you want to wear them with. Make sure they don't fall off your waist too. Looks like an inch and a bit hack to me - or thereabouts.
