Pewter bag: when and where does it work?

Sorry about yesterday's picture where I tried to showcase my new pewter bag, i.e. my first impulse purchase in ages. Seems I was blocking visibility in the photos I linked to. Since it was an impulse buy, and based on some remarks from my resident photographer, I think more detailed feedback from you guys is necessary.
Corey says the bag is "shiny" and believes it wouldn't look right in certain contexts. Is he right? If not, is this a versatile every-day-type piece? An "out with the girls" type of bag? A total bust that should be returned post-haste?

It is a gorgeous bag Michelle. It is a bit shiny if the picture is correct - perfect for going out and various evening occasions. O own a pewter nag too that I wear daily, but it is much more muted.

I really like it and I see it as quite versatile actually. It doesn't seem overly dressy to me... the hardware and the quilting seem to keep it from going over the top dressy wise. And it doesn't appear overly shiny in this picture either. I say keep.
Men have a hard time wrapping their heads around mixing style elements. Not the same thing, but I showed my hubby a pair of really cute animal print shoes on line this morning and he was less than enthusiastic.... "oh, go away... who asked you?" haha They just don't "get" things the same way we do.
Keep the bag and use it often. I think it's fab!

I actually have to give Corey credit...his fashion know-how has improved exponentially since we got together and even noticably since I joined Ylf! His comments on the bag were that it was nice but may not be appropriate if I'm going for a strict, business-like vibe. It sounds like he may be right in that.
Glad so far you approve of it, girls. I was totally seduced by the gorgeous leather it's made of as well as the simple styling. The chain/leather straps aren't too much or super blingy looking, are they?

It is a gorgeous bag, Michelle! I love the chain straps, and that's usually not a look that appeals to me.

I do think it's shiny -- in a good way! -- and I would trust Corey's instincts. It's more of a fun going-out bag than an everyday-to-work one.

Then again, I do not err on the side of conservative for work, so perhaps you shouldn't listen to me.

I have always felt kind of awkward asking men (be they friends or boyfriends) for opinions. It's like asking my mom for advice on hedge fund trading. Why would I ask someone who has 0 personal experience with what I am questioning? It's not fair to me or to them! Corey sounds like he has a good eye though. I just have weird hangups about these things.

It is a beautiful bag and I adore the silver/pewter metallics. It might be more lively than what you are used to, but it is small and in excellent taste so you should be able to carry it whenever you want!

You talked about dressing for a 'strict business-like vibe' and if that means only black suit, black shoes, and black briefcase then just tuck it in the briefcase

I don't think the chain straps are too blingy, the style reminds me of a Chanel bag with the chain strap and quilting detail. I think it's a neutral enough color to go with any outfit.
