Well, I found a great dress for me in an unexpected place. We are in NYC this week and have been shopping for shirts for my husband, because he left his fashiony tee shirts at home and only packed two button front shirts, ooops!

But he got an ocular migraine and had to go back to the hotel to lie down. He encouraged me to keep wandering around so I stopped in Zero + Maria Cornejo, which I have always admired from afar. I tried on a few lovely breezy summer items, but fell in love with this dress. It actually better in person than in photos — it’s very lightweight cotton with an almost seersucker-like texture. My perfect color scheme for summer, just fitted enough, slits on the side for easy movement, a great maxi length. It’s over my usual budget for a casual dress, but it’s timeless for me and I anticipate this will get worn for years to come.

I might stitch up the neckline just a tad, but it actually doesn’t bother me the way it is, even though it’s quite low, because it’s not tight and the fabric and cut keep it from looking vulgar (low cut on my build can come off that way).

Bonus pics of us in our hotel room and NYC last night.
