My last NAS item arrived.

I am in love with this coat, but I want to be certain it is fitting me well. I have a niggling suspicion it could be more roomy. I can’t help but notice it looks suspiciously more A-line on the model. I am wearing a bulky sweater under the coat, and that seems okay. A blazer underneath is too tight, but I almost never double up on jackets. I can’t find Angie’s blog post right now about fitting a coat. If I were able to locate a size up, the sleeves would be much too long. Not seen here, but the coat has a beautiful striped lining.

Scarlet!! I love it on you!! I tried to get Suz to try on this coat. I can't tell about fit, but see Joy's thread I was just commenting on the importance for room to layer. Do you want to order the size up to compare? Only you can tell, but it looks fabulous on!!

The fit is a bit tighter than on the model (who I suspect isn't wearing a bulky sweater underneath). How does it feel? Do you feel constricted? When you bring your arms out in front of you does it pull in back? I guess it partly depends on how you envision wearing it. I don't typically wear a blazer under a coat but if you do that's definitely something to think about. It's a really cute coat and I like it on you but if it were me I might want a little more room.

I think fit on coats can be hard because what we wear under them and how we use them can vary so much in a season. Maybe trying it on with the thickest layer you may use it with and wearing it around the house for bit will help (crazy advice because where I am is supposed to hit 100+ for the next few days). Will you drive in this coat? Raising my arms in driving position is usually a tell tale sign for me. I do really like the fit in your pictures though!

Gryffin, (great name) I would order a size larger but it's sold out. I am pretty sure I would swim in it though, so I think it's a question of cut.

Jill58, I feel like it would suit a lot of casual situations, and I feel like it's cute and I can drive in it, but I am just concerned that it looks like a totally different beast on the model.

Muffin, ha ha, NAS is environmentally unfriendly because I was blasting the A/C to try on the coat.

I think it looks just right on you, and not tighter than on the model. But only if you feel comfortable.

The coat looks fab on you! But you need to make sure you're trying it on with the clothing that you'll be wearing with the coat in the winter, and then see how it fit and how you move. I

Scarlet, I don't think it matters if it looks different on the model. Again, you're wearing layers. I think it looks really cute on you--it's mainly about how it feels when you're moving around.

I think it looks great!! It looks so versatile and I am all for any coat that is not a puffer! Love the toggles.

I don't think it looks much different on you than on the model (although her arms are longer).

I think it's supposed to hang straight and not curve to your curves, but it doesn't look like it does.

OMG, I love it, and now I want to order it. Gryffin was trying to persuade me earlier, and really, I already loved the coat, and it wouldn't take much persuasion... But I worried it was a bit more casual than I wanted. Yet seeing it on you....the navy is so rich and luxe.

Scarlet, you are making my NAS potentially more expensive than I wanted it to be! :).

I think it looks great on YOU, who knows what's going on with the model, and I don't think that every coat has to be appropriate for every occasion. If you love it you should keep it, it's really cute on you.

I think it works and ignore the model! Maybe it just needs some fluffing in the rear? Also remember those models are like 5'11!

I think it looks fabulous on you. Forget the model. Only issue is whether it is too snug with winter layers underneath. I have found with my fave winter coat that I wear heaps that there are still a couple of woollen jumpers ( sweaters I think in US-speak) that I can't wear with it as too tight, but all other outfits seem fine.

Looks wise it is a keep. Whether it passes all the sit and drive and other tests, that is for you to decide.

Thank you, ladies for your feedback. So what I am hearing from you is that it looks fine, and it is up to me to be sure it feels fine. That is reassuring. Actually, I am slowly getting smarter. I buttoned up the coat and looked at it on the hanger and lying flat. It is not meant to be A-line. It has a straight cut with a little extra curvature in the booty area, so I guess the model has tiny hips and no booty, as a model does.

Smittie, yeah, I realize the arms are slightly long on me, but I don’t mind this length for winter outerwear.

Suz, it is a super nice coat and the lining is also beautiful. I was shocked by how soft the wool is. There is an extra tag promising it is waterproof and breathable wool, which is important to me because I hate worrying about my peacoat in the rain and snow. Also, important to me, the navy is not too dark. My NAS is definitely more expensive than I wanted it to be! But actually I don’t mind so much because I am in a wardrobe rebuilding phase and I can get much more for my dollar this way. I will make up for it by not shopping later.

I agree that it looks really great on you. But you have to decide if it feels good with what you would normally wear with it, sitting, driving, etc.

I'd be tempted, too, but I already have a navy duffle coat.

I bought the same coat and have the same problem. I did order a size down from my usual size from what reviewers said. The coat fits me perfectly if I only wear a light layer so I'm now ordering my normal size so I can have flexibility in wearing a heavier sweater. My big concern is the sleeve length being too long and perhaps to coat might look oversized. Some items have minimal changes between sizes and some have huge differences. But I have to try. Sizes are coming back in stock so you need to check Nordstroms web site daily.

Coming back to say that if I compared model pics of clothes to how they really look on me--I would never get dressed! That's why I just love this forum-real people and real bodies doing real things in their clothes!!!

This coat is now available in more sizes, so I've ordered my regular size and a size down. Even though I wasn't really looking for a new coat...but I would use it and it's worth a try after all the rave reviews.

My new coat came this morning in my regular size small and I'm so happy I reordered. I thought the smaller size fit well except for not being able to layer but the new one in my regular size really fits perfect. It's a little roomier where I needed it, in the body. It is a tiny bit longer in the sleeves but not that you would notice. Overall I'd say it looks the same, slim and tailored and the roomier version helps it drape well and look right, and I can wear heavier knits comfortably. Now I can see the smaller coat was a tad skimpy. I will return the xs pronto!
