Hi,

I am quite tall and have a straight, boyish figure.

I tried on a pencil skirt for the very first time yesterday and the shop assistant genuinely said it would suit me. (Really liked how it looked on me too.)

I don't like to show my legs though. Don't ask.

Is there anything like a floor length pencil skirt or dress? Google seems only to return about knee lengths one. Suppose for good reason :(.

Any advise would be really appreciated :).

Try googling 'long skinny skirt.'

Generally, a pencil skirt or sheath dress (a dress with the skirt portion shaped like a pencil skirt) is going to be around knee length. They were longer back in the 90s when hems were longer in general. These days, with shorter skirt and dress hems it's hard to find them longer then knee length.

If you want a longer skirt, search for maxi skirt or maxi dress, or midi skirt or midi dress, and then look for ones that have a straight skirt (not a-line or gathered).

A long pencil skirt may be hard to walk in, that's probably why they don't make them longer.

How about hosiery with a knee length pencil skirt.

Hi Angie,

Considered this too as well as boots. Just don't like to show my knees. And mid calf looks always a bit like a compromise that doesn't quite look right!

How about just below the knee - covering, and a very elegant length with tapered side seams.

I have some rather narrow sweater dresses that work with leggings. Have you tried leggings? If you don't like knit ones, try woven or even athletic pants. I tried those long pencil skirts back in the day and they were difficult to move in even with a long slit. Most of the time the slit ended up torn.. They are also a pain in the restroom. I long wrap skirt might be a better choice.

I think tall boots look great with below-the-knee midi-length (you might google that term, too) pencil skirts. If they are the dressier type of leather boots, they can be worn quite comfortably indoors.

I am right into wearing high shaft ankle boots with just below the knee pencil skirts. Love the look. You might find a knit skirt gives more freedom of movement, if that is a concern.

I googled a bit more. There seems to be a huge variety of different styles. If I am brave enough, I might even try to go for a pencildress =).

I am not so much concerned about movement. Guess this will dramatically change when I actually wear one longer then just in the fitting room.

Really more worried of showing my knees and legs. I know, silly cow. But find them too masculine :(.

If you come across a skirt or dress, which looks amazing and won't mean one has to sell a kidney, please shout :).

Also look at "tube skirts".
These are often just below knee , tapered, and stretchy for movement, and affordable.

I was also going to suggest tube skirts: longer but not to the ankle; they are stretch knit so easy enough to walk in. They can be worn with boots or with opaque stockings or socks, and oxfords or loafers (at least, that's how I wear them).
