Even though I dont have the need to explore professional dressing, I like to read the blog 'The Directrice'. I think she's funny and sassy and quirky - all wrapped into one.

Yesterday I saw this cool pearl inspiration on the blog. Here, the Directrice is wearing a long lariat style necklace that she's wound around her neck twice, and then wound one end around the other to fasten it. I think the effect is modern, unexpected and quite ethereal.

Know of any other cool ways to wear a long strand of pearls?

Very modern and a more interesting way of taking advantage of that floating effect rather than wearing it traditionally. I love it.

I noticed a woman last weekend who wore a triple-wrapped long stand of big pearls above several strands of smaller matinee-length ones. Interesting high-low mix. Black sweater and faded denim.

I love 'The Directrice" ! Such a great sense of humour. I too spotted those pearls and loved them. I think I also like that it's not a solid strand, there are gaps between the pearls. I like the look of pearls layered with other necklaces too.

I read and love her blog too, and I looked up those pearls as well. A bit pricey unfortunately.

I've also seen a large metal pendant worn on a string of pearls rather than a chain and liked the look.

Well, this morning, you inspired me to try the faux pearl and chain necklace I got to see if it would dress down my other pearls.

First with a boatneck blush tee: nope, ladylike.
Then with a white scoop tank and restyled classic tweed jacket (knitted hood and cuffs, appliquéd felt tree, bird, flowers): entirely off the wall and perfect!
But I'm more comfortable working at home in a sweater than a jacket, so what you see is pearls with a graphic tee (Inge Shopfest!) and favorite black cardigan.
