This weekend, I was at lunch with some good friends and we were having a discussion about dressing to de-emphasize the butt and hips vs. dressing to embrace the butt and hips. I noted that as a pear, I was trying to get out of the mindset that making my butt look smaller should be my top fashion priority, and the instant reaction I got was, "you're not a pear shape!" They thought I was putting myself down - i.e., calling myself a pear shape was like saying "I'm fat."
It made me realize how far I've come in terms of accepting my body shape. It also made me realize that "pear" is still not considered a compliment by everyone.
