Party skirt

This is what I wore for Christmas last year (I chose the purple blouse). Looking back at it I wonder whether it is not too classic. Perhaps even old fashioned / out of fashion?
As I was planning something similar this year, I value your honest opinion. I really do. No flattering please, give it to me straight.

Perhaps it's my monitor, but the top looks cobalt blue to me. I vastly prefer the white top. Not old-fashioned to my eye.

Are you trying for something less classic? Maybe the skirt with a knit like Angie's post today?
I also prefer the white top - but the black and white is a classic combination.

The blouse looks blue to me too. Actually, I prefer the blue/purple blouse to the white. The white-blouse outfit looks a little business-y to me for some reason.

I don't think the skirt is outdated, but I think you might want to pair it with some edgier items. Something sparkly, maybe, like Alaskagirl suggested. Or maybe add a chunkier gold necklace? A more brilliant-colored purse? I am trying to be edgier in my own outfits but haven't quite figured it out yet, so I am of little help!

Greetje (am I spelling that correctly?), you look terrific and party perfect. The look is classic to me, but not outdated. I also prefer the blue/purple blouse, and I think a shorter sparkly sweater, or a edgier top would be a great addition, enabling you to wear the skirt in new ways. It's great to have classic, modest party outfits, since many family and work gatherings call for just such a look.

I'm going to be unpopular and say I think the skirt is borderline dated. I do think with a more modern top it would look great. Perhaps a banded top that sits on the waist.

This is classic, and while not outdated, it doesn't seem to fit with some of the more edgy stuff I've seen you wear. I like the idea to try a sparkle tank.

The top is, as a matter of fact, purple, but it doesn't come out that way on photos. A tank top is out of the question with my arms, not reveiling them anymore. And knitwear would have been nice if I had hips where the top could fold and sit. Alas, with my figure it just falls down and make me look like a stick. I tried such a top with a similar skirt and that was BAD.
I think it is a bit outdated and needs something edgier, only something that suits my figure. As it was Christmas I thought I could get away with it (classic season after all).

I think the skirt can work with a more modern top. I like the skirt but not the embellishment on the front/waist of it.

I am late here, Greetje but I really love your skirt here. However I would prefer a more modern cut top with it - or a classic button down shirt which is always in style. This wrap around top while lovely and flattering does feel a bit outdated to my eye.
As for the knitwear - try shorter styles so they stay in place. One of those fluid sweaters would look lovely and modern with this skirt.

Happy Xmass Greetje! As you asked for honest opinions, I think the skirt will look more curent with a banded knitted sweater like top, as per Deborah said! Is not having enough hips a problem??? Oh, my(full with envy:-))! You can always take in the band on the hem for a right fit!

That is a lovely skirt. I think a top in black or deep navy with a bit of sparkle to tie in with the skirt detail would be beautiful.

"Old Fashioned" is NOT a bad thing:) plus that skirt is cute! i myself enjoy finding items that are vintage. going to the mall or department store is fun and all but it makes me sad when i go head to the check out stand and need to pull out my credit card lol. there are a lot of good vintage stores online. check out etsy.com if you havent already. they have a ton of nifty stuff. my friend opened a store called UltimaVintage.
