Cord locks hang

I bought the Mango version of Angie’s parka: khaki is more soft Army green with a sheen. Love the fit, faux fur, gold hardware, easy care (washed beautifully).
Question: What do you do with the bottom circumferance cord locks? I won’t use them and they hang below the bottom of my coat. Would anyone cut them out?

I did this on a canvas/fleece Patagonia coat. The cord locks were in a weird place and annoyed me when I walked. The cord was elastic so I pulled it has much as I could and cut it. I have no regrets!

They do make things warmer in case of an emergency where imminent hypothermia outweighs the call of fashion. But cut away if this is not a coat you would wear in those cases. Do pull as much as you can out before you snip, per JAileen's technique.

I see what you mean about where they hang. Absolutely cut away since you say you will never use them. Don't let your clothing boss you around, right?

IMO, don't buy that kind of parka if you don't like the way the pulls hang. If you cut them off the hem will hang weird.

Well, ladies: Thank you for educating me on fashion vocabulary (cord locks) and their purposes (to keep the hem straight and to provide warmth—the latter of which I guessed). I am glad to know there is an alternative!
Bennett: That is the best example of not letting clothing boss one around that I have seen yet!
All: Since I am no seamstress, I think I will wait a while to see how much they really bother me or get in the way. Then I know I have a solution if necessary.

If it’s just the looks that bother you and you won’t use them, I wonder if you could just sew the pulls up to the lining with a couple of stitches? That would leave the weight, but make them less visible below the hem, and you’d still have the option available in an emergency.
