Parachute stylings - YouLookFab Forum

Ok. Trying a few of the suggested stylings:

1. With white boots and all white oversize top as per Angie.
2. With a higher neckline, as per Brooklyn.
3. With more refined footwear, as per Jaime.

I have several white or white dominant tops that I could use if I want to wear these with the white boots.

I liked Brooklyn's examples with high neckline, sleeveless tops. I have similar tops, but I would not be super likely to wear with this particular pant because it is a heavier weight cotton -- more for fall/ winter. If I find a linen or cotton-linen blend version of these pants I will absolutely try that suggestion!

My "refined" booties are 4 pairs of identical but for colour pointed toe, and one pair of navy square toe. Trying a few versions.

Note: these are not "complete" styled outfits -- I'm just trying out the proportions and colours of boot, and seeing the overall effect. Which I know makes it difficult to judge. But would love your thoughts on the footwear options in particular.

Realistically, this particular pair won't get a lot of use with sandals because of its weight. It might get some wear with sneakers and I don't think either of my current ones are ideal, but that is fine because I'm due for a sneaker update and can look for styles that work. Kyle sent me some great options.

Yes! All good- but again I like the matchy- matchy look of white top and white or snakeskin boots, both iterations, the best. I feel my preferences are becoming stronger than ever with each passing year which makes me less able to be objective…

I like all of them with slight preference for #1, #5 and #8. All outfits are fun and look nice on you!
Something stuck in my mind recently - "make it intentional" - like "make it more noticeable" and don't shy away from calling the attention to those fab pants/boots combos .

My preference would be for outfits # 5,6 & 7, I like the combination of metallic print/ jean jacket and the refine footwear.
The black turtleneck looks fine, but not so much with the jean jacket. Also, the white boots in pic #1 seem a little stumpy, but it could just the photo angle too.

I do like it with the sporty white top. I see what you mean about "stumpy," Dee. It's partly photo angle, partly my short legs (!), and partly the contrast because those boots are flat (and high contrast) and the others I am wearing here are heeled (and some are lower contrast), so there's an evident difference. I don't think the outfits in the earlier thread looked "stumpy" and those were all flats as well (except my Blundstones, which have a small heel.)

I still don't know how I feel about footwear -- so far my faves remain the red plaid combat boots, but I'm open to outfits with the white boots and also with the navy square toed boots. I think I will like them with the RIGHT sneakers, too. And perhaps also with the pointed boots but I need to experiment a bit more there. And I will take further advice from Jaime.

Slim cat -- yes -- agreed. Might as well stand out if you are going to stand out and show what you are up to.

It goes along with Jenni's comment, too. Matchy matchy for the win (some of the time, anyway!)

I think they all work. I do have a preference for the more refined booties with a bit of heel, higher shaft, and a fitted ankle — I like the silhouette they create with the slim ankle and have been wanting to wear my own parachute pants that way. I think they’re pretty versatile!

Love these with the denim jacket!! Do you have any long sleeve turtlenecks? I could see that being an option. For footwear, do you have any taller boots you could tuck them in to? Might be too “pilgrim”, or could be really fun.

I agree that they all work - it’s a matter of personal preference . I prefer them with more refined boots and actually the metallic combo here is my fav of the bunch . Do you have a mesh top of any kind ? The Zara photo floating around with the teal mesh top and grey parachute pants has embedded itself in my brain - I love the look .

Ok, this is good information. It seems like it really is a matter of preference and maybe mood (and what I'll be doing/ where I'll be going.) Super useful and helpful.

Yet another option with flat pointed boots in navy. Seems I can play around with them.

I also think they all work and it would be up to you what you feel like the most at the moment. My personal favorite is #5, love both the matchiness of shiny top and boots as well as the sleek fit of those boots.

I will be the outlier here and say I prefer the flat boots. That may be because it makes the look a bit more 90s to my eye, whereas the heels make it more 80s. I have a sweet spot for the 90s. They all work. If they were mine (and I kind of wish they were), I’d also try them with a heavy soled brogue or a shortish combat boot in a low contrast colour.

Thanks, Brooklyn. I do have a low contrast combat boot (shown in the other thread) and will definitely wear with those! I also have a loafer that I have not tried.

It's all fascinating to hear the varied takes on these and ways to wear them! Realistically, I think I'll wear more with flatter shoes since they are a casual pant. But it will be fun to bring out the heels now and again.

Oooh, 8, 8, 8! Love the patterned snakeskin booties with the slouchy white top! I also love the silver booties with these pants. They seem very versatile for you and your style, which is so fab! I love the color.

Love the chunky boots/chunky sweater combo in #1! Arguably the boldest of the bunch, and it feels the most current to me. I've been rather enjoying the movement towards volume-all-over and the rejection of the notion that we have to "rein in" the volume somewhere. It takes skill (and the right pieces) to do it well, and I'd say you have both!

Maybe a lot of us are becoming more set in our preferences Suz? I can certainly see that I am and thus I think I ask for advice less than in my early years on the forum? But it’s still fun when I do. The preferences varied last time I did and it was all grist for the mill.

I feel so influential ! Anyway, no surprise, I do like them with the refined boots! Tough call but I think #5 is my favorite. Or maybe 2/3/4. Not ruling out 8 either...
