I like this! Oddly I generally see this mocha brown as cool and not warm as per the article. I have a knit and a pair of linen wide legs in this colour in my closet. Both from thrift so probably from the last time this colour was around, like maybe 20 to 25 years ago if I am guessing correctly. I am favouring earthy colours for Spring/Summer 2025 but hardly ever shop new. I can make a tonal mocha mousse outfit in Spring!

Suz: I don't hate it, but it doesn't excite me either, Around 2006 or 2007, all shades of brown disappeared from retail for about a decade. Then brown in all shades came roaring back. I think mocha mouse cpuld be a transitional color ftom winter to spring for those with cooler tones in their skin and hair.

What a great article. I will finish it later. Have always been a fiend for color, and the correct "nomenclature" for colors. Looked up the predicted 2025 Pantone color a few weeks ago, and it was supposed to be an inky blue.

Like Peach Fuzz, Mocha Mousse evokes some design element from around 1975 to 1980. Peach Fuzz looked like a prom dress from then, while Mocha Mousse looks like a kitchen interior from then. Mocha Mousse also looks very much like the color of clothing Rachel would wear on Friends. The more references a color can make, the catchier it is.

How will I incorporate this color? I still have a sateen off-the-shoulder Peach Fuzz shirt I never wore from last year. Better get to that. This year's color would be wonderful as a nail polish, an obnoxiously large headband, a prairie skirt, or how about a great pinafore?

Ugh...well, it looks like a darkish taupe to me -- more cool than warm on my screen. I like it, in theory, sort of, on the right person? I might even be able to wear it myself. But like Janet, I find myself entirely uninspired by it and don't think I will be adding it to my closet, even in the unlikely event that it ever shows up at retail (in clothing -- I can see it for décor, where is also fails to inspire me, LOL!)

Laughing at your intro to this choice, Nuancedream, and Janet, that's such a funny comment!

It's not particularly inspiring to me, except to make me wish I had a little dish of chocolate mousse right about now. Yum. Even so, I don't find the color especially comforting, as the article says Pantone was going for.

I do think I have some wardrobe items in this color, or something quite similar. It's a good neutral for me.

I feel like this colour is a staple of Aritzia's palette, and it's also been well represented in the outdoor gear world in recent years, as an alternative to the ubiquitous khaki/tan. I just bought DH a pair of hiking pants in a very similar shade of soft, cool brown (I think it was called "carob" by the manufacturer). One color combo that feels very zeitgeist-y to me is mocha paired with neon green/chartreuse and maybe a bit of crisp white -- see below.

G-Star featured this colour this year too! In a hoodie which I got for hubs Greg. He wears cool colours, and it's definitely on the cooler taupe side of the spectrum, to my eye. Looks great on him

Personally, this colour brings me joy as gelato or a milkshake.

I don’t mind it. But I feel like it’s a far more attractive colour when it’s presented in the form of a chocolate mousse than when it’s presented in the form of, say, a cotton t-shirt.

Ooh yes I prefer mocha. Either way, I agree that it isn't very exciting. Then again, I don't really do much exciting colors so I could see it in my wardrobe. I do like cooler tans/browns.

I had to look up “hold my beer”! Never seen or heard that before.
I’m with Suntiger, I would like to carry off that yummy looking bowl of mousse.
I prefer a way warmer bronze colour for clothing.
Also, Pantone is not a famous brand down here in the Antipodes, to me. I’ve only ever heard of it on YLF. Don’t foresee much of it appearing in our retail. But will keep an eye out!

This brown is more year - round than dark chocolate. I have a small grouping of bronze- brown that is close but warmer. I will. To be adding to it except maybe the right bottom. It will stay small to blend with other colors.

Pretty brown taupe based shade. I actually think it would pair well with the peach fuzz. I don’t feel Iike I ever see a heavy influence of Pantone’s yearly colors in retail but find their picks interesting.

Lisa I agree, peach fuzz and this brown shade will pair well together. My planned palette for Spring/Summer 2025 is going to be these colours along with rust and greens. And of course my trusty denim and black :). I have been slowly collecting quite a few pieces. Maybe cream too which will be new for me. And Yes, already dreaming about warming weather!

Absolutely agree that the appeal for this color mainly comes in associations with dessert. I don’t expect it to enter my wardrobe unless it’s in a print.

I just got home from a few days in NYC, and in some shops it seems a sea of beige tones is still what they’re pushing. I mean, fine, for those who like them, but it leaves me totally cold. I was delighted to enter some stores that had lovely shots of cobalt blue or other jewel tones. Too bad that lovely sky blue didn’t make the 2025 color choice.

It looks like hot chocolate, on my monitor. It was sort of a surprise to me (somehow I was expecting one of those spring green colors), but I don't mind. It's a good neutral for me, way better than gray, and if it never really catches on here in flyover country, the pieces I do wind up with won't stick out.

Did a quick city trip. Neiman Marcus windows went all in on brown plaids, in sort of Riding to the Hounds styling. I don’t remember any of the other windows because Macy’s had kittens.
