Pant Woes

Over the past couple of months since I've been visiting YLF a little more regularly, I have purchased 4 pairs of new pants from different brands.

Since I've haven't purchased anything new in a while, I found that 3 of the 4 pairs have bagged out alot in the bottom with wear, all have about 2-3% spandex/elastane with the cotton.

Is quality going downhill, or has this happened to you? Do you think some brands are better than others? I have a pair of Levi's I purchased several years ago, and they are an Eco pair, with recycled material and only 1% spandex....they fit great with very little stretch-out.

Any thoughts on this?

This happens to me sometimes & it drives me nuts: a trouser that tastefully fits my rear in the morning (not tight but shows the curve there) gives me 'pancake butt' by the evening. I haven't noticed a super strong correlation between fiber content, but it happens less to me in jeans-style cotton skinnies than in side zip cotton trousers, so I wonder if it's be the way the fabric's woven. After I buy a pair of trousers now, I keep the tags on & wear them around the house for 3-4 hours (obviously not when cooking or anything like that), which is usually sufficient to see if they're going to bag. If they do, I return them (I've never had a problem returning them either).

for me everything with 2% spandex bags. I have been lucky and found some pants that are 100% cotton, but are hard to find no matter the price. Actually have 2 pairs from Bass outlet that were only about $20.00,100% cotton and they are soooo much better than the Michael Kors 3% spandex that cost way more. my best jeans are 1% spandex, and they are a lot better than the 2%, but are also harder to find. even searching the same brands in same stores 100% cotton are not easy to find, and if I do find some can't find my size.

Ugh, I hate pants.

In the old days 2% was okay to not be too saggy; I think it also has something to do with how much you sit too - warm up all that spandex and it gets more saggy.

LOL - Lyn! I think you're on to something about warming up the spandex!

Always Trying, I have to agree with you there...I think 1% may be the key..anything more than 2% does totally bag on me....I've yet to come across any 100% cotton jeans in my travels.

E - that's a great idea about wearing them around for a couple of hours...I wish I had thought of it before I washed my new pants
