So I leave tomorrow at 4 am to go to a training for a clinical trial in New Orleans.
Unfortunately last night I realized I was very ill prepared. I had to go home last week to help Dad and have a mediocre birthday. My cat hasn't been well, and after going to the vet on Sunday, test reveal she needs a renal diet. I'm picking up the special cat food tonight.
So using Nordies pick up in store I'm hoping some of this will work.

I like the idea of all of these. I know you're traveling, but I don't know any world in which a mix and match capsule of travel basics would be authentic in your world.

The striped T looks like it would be comfortingly soft and probably long enough for you.

The sailor button crops puzzled me because the plaid and burgundy versions look like they are cut differently. I'd love to know which photo depicts them more accurately.

I think I had both corset shirts (and the sailor button crops) on my wish list for awhile -- until I sadly concluded they were a style best for someone taller or at least with longer legs. Guess they've got your name on them!

Those are great picks, Anna, and I'm crossing fingers you have success with them. I tried the white corset top and it was just a little too long in the torso on me, so it may be just right for you!

I love all your picks. I hope some of them work out for you. I'm tempted to try the corset shirts myself, although I suspect they're still too buttoned up for me.

Looks like the weather in New Orleans is hot and humid right now. I'm sure your training will be in AC, but you might want to bring something lighter to change into if you go out at night or anything.

And Happy belated birthday! (Come to Boston! I'll take you out for drinks and oysters!)

I like the pants and the corset shirts. I went to NO last summer because DH had a conference there. I wore mostly loose dresses to combat the heat and humidity.

I had a cat that needed a special renal diet (he had crystals in his urine). It took a few tries to find the right cat food for him but after that, most of the problems cleared up (he still got upset if the litter box wasn't cleaned regularly, etc.)

Everything was a bust (no pun intended)
They couldn't find the pants & the striped tshirt in the store. I didn't realize till I got home & couldn't figure out why half my stuff was missing.
The button down shirts were all too small in the bust. Although the white one was close to fitting & my favorite. Even if the JCrew ruffled one fit it would have been ridiculous on me. Guess I'm not very ruffly
So I scrambled to cobble together some sort of semblance of outfits.

Well, all I can say is I'm glad I'm not alone. I love that kind of ruffled shirt/bodice and keep trying them on, and they are always laughably overwhelming on me. I still mourn the Oscar De La Renta I was compelled to pass up because I just looked stoopid... but screw that, NOLA is fabulous. My favourite town outside of the West... hehe
