Pale Gold NAS Clutch - K/R? - YouLookFab Forum

I feel kind of silly making an 'urgent' post about a clutch, but I've left it to the last minute and I'm off to make returns to Nordstrom's soon.

I picked up the pale gold clutch Angie recommended in her NAS list, and I absolutely love the size and structure, and yes, the color. My hesitation is that it is so shiny...I had planned to style it with dark wash jeans and a casual top, but when I tried it with a floral print button down, the clutch seemed out of place. I can't even imagine trying it with an even casual fabrication (knit tops from BR, for example...maybe they'd work with my Tippi JCrew sweaters?) In theory I LOVE the idea of adding some glam element to an outfit, because my life doesn't call for 100% head to to glam looks. I have a sequin sweater that I've worn running errands and out to dinner, and felt very comfortable in the look.

Can anyone post or link to images (polyvore? pinterest? bloggers?) of the casual glam look I'm after? I feel like I'm missing some important piece...and the clutch is too pricey to sit in my closet unused.

It's quite matte in person actually. I STILL want that clutch. *sigh*.

I wouldn't even think twice about it matching it with just about any outfit. Interesting juxtaposition. Just. Do. It.

Hi MPJ --

Coming down on the side of enabling -- metallics are so versatile, and I think this bag would do what you want it to in terms of glamming up casual outfits.

Maybe the blouse feels too daytime for you in a way the sequin sweater doesn't? I think the clutch would work really well with solid jersey and sweater knits, but then I'm biased (see below).

That said, I hear you on the price. I bought a metallic clutch for similar reasons to yours, but mine was vintage and $25 so that made it easier to jump.

However: there are a lot of variations on this theme out there for less and you HAVEN'T bought those, so clearly this particular bag checks a lot of boxes for you.

On the other side of the equation, though, if you won't feel comfortable stretching your fashion bounds that far, then you won't use it. If you won't use it, no point in purchasing it.

I think it's stunning. Aida has quite often posted casual outfits with her gold sequinned clutch. Maybe you could find some outfit inspiration there?

If the gold is too flashy for you than you will feel uncomfortable no matter what. Maybe part of the problem is the amount of warmth and not the shine (since Angie says the bag is fairly matte). You could consider trying something without so much warmth. I have a metalic leather bag in bronze. I think that color may be more neutral as it seems to go with everything, including gold and silver. It manages to go everywhere and with everything, both casual and dressy.

Thanks for everyone's opinion...decided to give it another shot. I actually ordered an exchange today at Nordstrom's because the one I received at several fingernail shaped digs on the back. Odd, because the lovely assistant who handled my returns dragged her long nails across the bag and they didn't leave a mark. I am relieved to know I will not have to be precious with the clutch. I am very excited to get style it now...

So I am an outlier here. I love the bag but noticed the bags in the two casual looks you posted are soft unstructured, giving a more casual-laid back feel. The LR is beautiful but is a more structured, giving it polished dressier look. Or at least to my eye.

Bella, I agree with Marin's comment, but I love the examples you found. I particularly love the Pinterest post. I could wear that look any day of the week, to work, to the grocery store, or out to dinner. It seems to meet the criteria of being casual yet polished, and adding just a bit of glam factor.
