Paige Manhattan Bootcut Jeans

I have been following YLF for a long time, but only recently joined as a member.

I ordered the Paige Manhattan Bootcut jeans the first day the NAS was open to the public, and I received them July 25. I have not had a chance to take a photo of them yet.

The jeans fit TTS for me. I have a similar pair of jeans from Paige in the Transcend fabric in a straight leg style, and the fit is comparable. The bootcut is very subtle. They are long enough for me to wear with flats, and I would say they are a higher mid-rise fit on me. For reference, I am 5’ 10.5” tall, short waisted, with long legs, and a relatively long rise.

The fabric is very comfortable, although I do understand why other forum members did not like the low cotton content. I am concerned that the fabric may be prone to snagging, especially because I have a puppy with very sharp nails who has already snagged one pair of jeans and put a hole through a pair of jean shorts with his sharp puppy teeth. The dark color of the jeans will probably prevent me from wearing light colored shoes for fear of dye transfer. I love dark blue jeans, but I don’t like the way they discolor light colored furniture, clothing, shoes, purses, etc.

I am leaning toward keeping, since I have a hard time finding full length jeans that fit well.

I like Paige jeans, probably because of the low cotton content. I got a pair of Hoxton Ankles today. Lilypup hasn’t ever snagged my Paige’s, but has to be said she’s a dog with a delicate touch.

thanks for the thorough review....i wonder if the fact that it has a lower cotton content would also mean that there is less change of dye transfer...since i don't generally hear about dark non denim itens having that issue

Erin, welcome to the forum as a person who posts! I also purchased these because I have long legs, although I am shorter than you. For comparison, I have some high rise boot cut Joes Jeans on order (which I believe were from the sale). They look to be slightly lighter in color but also a fairly even wash and the same length. I believe they have a higher cotton content as well.

I agree with you about the rise. 9-9.5 is really a mid-rise for my frame. For anything to be a true high rise for me it needs to be minimum of 12”.

Thank you , Erin. I have these jeans winging their way to me right now. I'm a whole lot shorter than you at 5'5", and I'm already resigned to having to take them in to be hemmed - that is, if I keep them. I have all the same fears about dark overdyed jeans too.....

These jeans will definitely need hemming for those who are shorter. But isn't it great that they can work on taller or shorter women without proportions being destroyed -- not always the case with flares and boot cuts!

Glad you posted your review. I bought these also (and I'm 5'4" so you know I will be hemming!) It is true what you say about dye transfer. I will cross fingers, though.

rachylou - I really like Paige jeans too. Lilypup sounds like a very sweet dog. My 12 year old dog is much easier on my wardrobe, but she did her share of damage when she was a puppy.

Staysfit - Thank you. I will take a look at the Joe’s Jeans. I have one pair of Joe’s Jeans that are several years old. They fit well at one time, but now they are too low rise, and too tight in the thighs. I’ll be interested to hear which pair you like better.

I returned mine. I missed the part where Angie told us they were long. And I know I’m not going to have them hemmed. I wouldn’t have been able to decide which length!

I just bought these and I love them. I am soooo happy about the length - I’m 5’8” and, as I’m sure you’ve experienced, jeans are all-too-often too short.

Great review - agree these are magic jeans. I still need to have mine hemmed, but not nearly as much as most pairs. Enjoy!

I personally find jeans with a lower cotton content often more comfortable. Some whispering doesn’t usually bother me, and I agree that full length jeans are tough to find. Glad to hear they work for you.
