Packing Emergency - Static Cling Tips?

Packing - tried on my new-ish Equipment knock-off shirt (from Costco, brand is Central Park West) with a cashmere cardigan - instant static cling. The once slouchy-ish, flowy shirt is now clinging to me like Saran Wrap...eek!

The shirt is polyester I think.

I leave for a trip tomorrow, and wanted to take the shirt with me. Any suggestions? Run it through the dryer with a couple of dryer sheets? Spritz shirt with Downy Wrinkle Release? I bought three of these shirts and really like them...just not sure what to *do* to fix the static. The other two are still ok - it was when I tried on a blue shirt with a black cashmere cardigan that everything went static-y. Is it the sweater?

Does anyone know how to fix the problem? Thanks for any advice!

I don't have much else I can take on this trip (overzealous editing of the closet)...so need these shirts.

I have heard that scrunching up a ball of aluminum foil and popping the items in the dryer for a few mins will work wonders but I have not yet tried it. I have rubbed the bounce sheets on the garments and that has worked for me in the past. Hope it works!

Rather than running it through the dryer with the dryer sheet, rub the dryer sheet over the inside of the shirt and it should totally fix the cling. Take a couple of dryer sheets with you. You might have to do it again or run it over the inside of your cardigan if the cardigan/top junction is the problem rather than the shirt/you.

Oh boy.....

I used to use Static Guard when I worked and I LOVED it.

Also, I just read in a magazine that dryer sheets rubbed on clothes work too. You should spray or rub both the sweater and the shirt. But you have to be very careful with the shirt so that you don't stain it. If you do use the spray, stand back a bit so that the shirt doesn't soak in any spot.

And yes, I will bet that it is the sweater. I avoid sweaters and silky shirts. Do you have a blazer that you can wear instead.? The other option that also worked very well for me was wearing a cotton cami underneath the shirt sprayed with Static Guard. But you may have to drop the sweater.

I vote for a travel size can of static guard. I am still using one I bought 4 years ago.

I had this problem with a skirt-slip. It is made worse by dry-skin, so if you moisturise before you wear-(not too much though) this seems to stop the cling.

Thank you! I remember that Static Guard spray stuff too...but I don't have any on hand, nor do I have time to get any...(really behind on things here today).

I will try one or more of these ideas, and if I get a chance, I'll report back.

Sometimes taking the item and whacking it hard against, say, the dryer works.
Sometimes taking a wire hanger (or maybe the bottom part of a skirt hanger) and
stroking it repeatedly down the item works.
