Packing bras for travel

Recently while purchasing bras at Nordstrom, the sales lady mentioned not to squish the bra cups while washing or packing them for travel. I have always squishes one cup into the other to pack into a small bag for my tiny carry-on. But now I am rethinking my strategy. I have tried packing socks inside the cups, but it just ends up taking too much space and gets squished anyways among all my other stuff. Do you guys have any ideas for packing bras without damaging the structure of the cups? Are there any packing devices I can use for this purpose? Thanks in advance!

This is a hard one. I usually roll up a belt and put it into the cups (one over the other)

I know there are things you can buy.. don't have time to search for them at the moment, but honestly, I fold my bras in half and turn one cup inside the other and don't notice any trauma caused to the bra. For as often as I travel, I just don't see how an occasional suitcase squishing is going to be the end of the world.

I have two. They're available at a high end lingerie store near me. I use them when travelling to the gym...just toss my bra in there and toss it in my gym bag. I don't use it for travel because the brag is pretty bulky.

I also heard from a high end lingerie store (not the one that carries the brag) that you shouldn't put one cup inside the other. I am not entirely sure why.

In the end what I do for travel is to wear my foam cup bra and pack only soft cup bras.

I either try to give some support with socks, etc. or say screw it and do as Queenie says. Packing is hard enough as it is and the cups are fine unless you are wearing tight t-shirts, in which case a texture disruption may be detectable due to the inside-out bending.

I store my bras folded in half with one of the cups pushed into the other, have done for years and have never noticed any ill effects x

I store my bras folded in half, with one cup folded into the other. When I travel, I do the same thing, with panties filling up the cup that's folded into the other. I prefer Bali molded cup t-shirt bras and have never mutilated one using this method!

I always put one cup inside the other and then stack multiple bras that way or stuff with socks. But, I also machine wash (but air dry) my foam cup bras. I am a D or DD cup and have never had a problem. The first thing to go on my bras is always the band because I wear a heart rate monitor under mine and the extra friction does the fabric in first, before I get saggy cups. However, my highest use bras (multiple wears a week, washing every week) usually only die after a year or two. I don't buy the 60-100 dollar ones (I buy on sale for usually around 30, but I have also had luck with GAP bras recently, which are that cheap all the time) so I can afford to replace them. The only time I have had bras get ruined was one particular foam style that would develop perma-creases if it got crushed or turned inside out. It was a weird bra and I never bought another.

For the UK readers wanting a bra case... My boyfriend bought me a really cute bra case (fits up to 6 bras) that I use all the time when I travel. Oops, I always store mine folded in half. Haven't noticed any issues... I did recently get a new, very expensive one, so I do want to make sure it lasts.

I do notice issues when I fold them in half. That bra case seems like a good option and I'll buy one if I see it store.

When I travel, I usually take only the non-foam bras, but I know some people don't like wearing non-foam, non-lined bras.

A Nordie's SA gave me the same lecture during NAS this year. But when her back was turned, her young associate winked and whispered, "Use a warm --not hot-- blow dryer on them. That's what we do, and they snap right back into shape."

The blow dryer trick sounds great, Cerinda! Funny story, too.

I have recently taken to wrapping my bras around a makeup case that is fairly firm. They seem to come out less squashed that way.
