Hello all.

Yes, we are splurging and heading out to a much-deserved trip to Iceland (it's their Winter) for an 11 day getaway from DC. It will be cold, quiet, wet, icy, hopefully snowy, and I'm all ready for it...somewhat.

My big thing is how do you prepare for a Winter trip? I know we have to layer up and I've done plenty of research, so warmth and dryness are key factors on this trip. My top half is prepared. Its my bottom half that I'm worried about. I currently have the following items:

  • 1 pair of black waterproof pants to wear over leggings
  • 1 pair of Uniqlo heattech black leggings to wear under waterproof pants
  • 1 pair of fleece lined black leggings to wear under waterproof pants
  • 1 pair of warm running leggings
  • 1 pair of jeans
  • 6 pairs of wool socks - will wash if I have to
  • 2 pairs of boots: 1 pair blue waterproof hiking and 1 pair beige snow boots
  • 2 pairs of crampons for our boots

Should I take another pair of waterproof pants? Part of me says no since no one would know if I wore something twice. Part of me says yes since I'm not sure how waterproof these pants are.

Help with suggestions??? Am I forgetting anything else?

Suggestions appreciated.
