I'm getting ready for our trip to the UK next week -- my niece is getting married in London, and I'm trying to figure out my packing strategy. My husband and I have a week in London for the wedding and some other activities, and then we're spending a week exploring elsewhere in the UK (perhaps renting a car and driving north to Scotland? or to Wales? or just exploring closer to London...).
I had this lovely dress altered slightly in the top to correct some gaping, and the tailor also steamed out the dress so it now falls nicely with no creases, even with the tulle underskirt (the photo was taken before the alteration and steaming). However, I'm sure that will be short-lived as I need to pack it for the trip. I have a garment bag (the substantial kind with a handle that rolls, so I can pack other items in it as well), but I'm pretty sure that no matter what I do, the dress will get wrinkled in transit. Does anyone have any suggestions for traveling with this kind of dress? I'm hoping that it will be possible to borrow a steamer at the hotel in London.
Another question: I picked up this silvery grey wrap/scarf to go with the dress in case I need a little coverage for chilly shoulders at the service or the reception. It goes well with the silver shoes I'm wearing in the photo, and I have a simple silver clutch to take. My jewelry will be silver-toned as well. I like that this scarf/wrap is silk and has a luxe feel to it -- other silver wraps I saw seemed a bit too casual for this dress. What do you think?
