After WW2, Americans sent packets to Europe with articles that were difficult to get hold on here. Among many popular items were chewing gum, nylon stockings and chocolate. To receive something like that was like winning in a lottery.
These days we have an abundance of goods in our shops, too, but "packets from America" still have a certain flair about them. No wonder I felt a sizzling excitement when I saw that my first eBay purchase ever had arrived today. It is a J Crew perfect shirt in leopard, and oh.my. is it perfect. It fit as if it were made for me, and the pattern and fabric is beautiful. It has the exact level of contrast that I desired, and the colors are perfect. I threw it in the washing machine just in case, and it came out in perfect condition. I paid $24 for the shirt plus $15 for shipping, and it was a really good deal for me. I think it will go with almost all my bottoms, and a number of the dresses, too!
I consider myself a winner today, receiving the perfect packet from America
