Oxford vs oxford & advice on fab finds right now - help pls!!!

I've progressively gotten more & more into the idea of oxfords with every post I see on here. The final thing that has tipped me over the edge is my crazy parents making a spontaneous week-long trip to SF a few days ago - they can bring back shoes for me to avoid shippng costs!!

Oxfords seem to make sense for my lifestyle as they are a) flat, b) covered which is good for our weather right now, and also very good for work!

I was all set to shamelessly copy Angie and order the Fitzwells from zappos that she sports so well

Then I saw Maya's new pair from nordstrom:

They are fairly similar, but the colours are in opposite bits of the shoe if that makes sense. Was there ever a verdict on which way works best on dark/blonde hair, or does it not really matter?

Advice much appreciated as I need to put my order in with parents ASAP!!! I hope they can make it to nordies ok!! Anything else I should get them to check out for me in SF whillst they are there???? Anything particularly fab in H&M at the moment for example????

Hmm, I have no clue about which is better for which hair colors, but for practicality I would go for the black toes. I would probably ruin those white toes within the first week!

Also, the Söfft Rachelles look AMAZING! I can't wait to see some pictures!

The Miz Mooz are more casual (the nature of the distressed leather). I vote those because your style is more casual than mine. The Fitwells are definitely dressy - and I'm a smarty pants

I think you should get Mum and Dad to bring back dresses, sandals and ballet flats too. Bat those eye lids.

Wow - I like them both! I've never thought about the arrangement of the colors on the shoe - in fact I have 2 pairs of 2-tone oxfords and I have no idea if the lighter color is the toe or the darker color the toe! (And I'm too lazy to go upstairs right now and look!) So . . . can you afford to get them both? Seems like you'd be completely covered with your black/gray and tan/brown outfits if you got both!

Angie that's interesting about the dressiness. Hard to make that out from photos! Also I don't know if that its just the size that's pictured, but the Fitzwells do seem to make the foot look smaller than the MM ones. Not an issue for a petite size like Maya, but a big issue for size 10-er like me! Also I prefer the flatter heel of the Fitzwell's, I am truly a flats person all the way. But you're right about casual being more me. Hmm no easy answers!

Taylor, SF definitiely so far from here. I'm so jealous. They have already been and eaten at my fave mexican place....mmmm!!

Mary K you are evil .....love it! But I think I'll stick to one pair of oxfords for starters. Black & white is def. the go to start with.

Marley, maybe I am overthinking things with the toe colour then...entirely possible!

p.s. I've also asked my Mum to scope out this dress and see if it is anywhere near long enough to wear as a dress. She's only a littel shorter than me, so hopefully will be a good test!!

I'm guessing that the colour arrangment won't matter so much, so if I were in your (soon-to-be oxford) shoes I'd stick with Angie's advice and get the more casual pair to suit your style.

Hmm, I didn't realize the Miz Mooz were considered casual. But honestly, all my shoes end up looking "distressed" no matter what anyway. I am very hard on them. My poor shoes must wonder what sins they committed to get stuck with an abuser like me.

I preferred the black-white-black of the Miz Mooz over the white-black-white of the Fitzwells. No reason. Just a personal, subjective preference. I had shoes like that when I was 14 so it's also a bit nostalgic. Probably more suitable for my hair color too, but it wasn't really a deciding factor.

However, I should clarify that they are described as black and beige. I am hoping for a creamy color like in the pictures rather than a true, oatmealy anti-color that I associate with beige. Fingers crossed. I will report back on the fit and style as soon as I get them.
