Outfit Lab: high waisted wide leg cropped chinos!

With a nod to trendiness, I picked up a pair of high waisted wide leg cropped chinos (Uniqlo) for my S/S refresh. Today I played at styling them with items from my closet. I think they are a smidge long for PPL, however they are 98% cotton, 2% spandex so I expect they will shrink up to perfect length after washing. Let me know what you think!

If you shorten the pants by two inches - (2 inches above ankle bone) - you are in business with ALL the renditions. Very 2018, and WELL DONE, Carla. #2 is my KILLER fave.

LOVE the shoes in #1, and am sending SuperSam over to steal them.

My favourites on you are #1 and #6. I do like the idea of the ikat print in #2 but can't quite make out the overall silhouette enough to comment.

I love al of these. Especially 1 and 2. With the belt and that silhouette, you’re giving off a Katherine Hepburn vibe, which works like gangbusters for you.

Forgot to say that the safari tan colour of the wide crops is lovely with your hair.

My favorites are #2 and #4/5. The chinos will be perfect when shortened a bit. Love that you are already preparing for S/S in Feb!

Shorten and wear with joy! I really love #2. The pattern mix is gorgeous and I love the juxtaposition of the khakis with the slight "dressiness" of the crisp striped and bowed shirt and the fun jacket.

The khaki is really brilliant with your hair. Super cohesive.

I really like 1,2, 4-5. Can you try 3 with a different top? Maybe something lighter? Or a shade of blue? I really like the white Jean jacket, but am less sold on the burgundy.

I LOVE these pants on you! I agree - shorten and wear the heck out of them. I like the renditions where you tuck in the top, but then I have a preference for more classic proportions.

These pants look great on you. I agree they need to be shortened but would wash them first (I have made the mistake of hemming first). My favorites are the more fitted tops, especially #6. Cute with the black tennies.

I love these on you! 6 is my favourite (looks great with the black/white sneaks), followed by 1, but I am totally intrigued by the wide-over-wide option with the tunic. I wonder what would happen if you put a cropped topper (maybe the white denim jacket?) over the tunic?

Tip for anyone else considering these (I know I am, in the green...): Uniqlo now offers free hemming on pants when you order online.

Another fan of Number 6. Although quite a few YLF Members liked numbers 4/5, it is clear my eye has not adjusted to this look yet. What I saw was too much going on. My eye didn't know where to settle.

Seeing the length of the pants on your body and then reading the comments is really helpful for me to understand proper length. I do see that these particular pants should be shorter on you! I am learning!
