outfit lab: which footwear & accessory?

I'm dressing for work, still not sure what I'll walk out the door in, and wondering which variation you all like best. I'll pick one and go, but will be curious to come back and see your picks!

The outfit: Wine skinnies (Madewell); gray and black plaid angled hem tunic (made by me); long charcoal cardigan (Halogen).
Accessory choice: scarf with charcoal plaid over printed with flowers or long hammered silver necklace (Lucky), or neither one?
Footwear choices: black flat booties (Munro); gray shimmer suede oxfords (Naot, Kedma); gray suede booties (Paul Green).

I'm voting necklace because I like the way it adds to the vertical shape. The tunic is a long expanse so I like the way the necklace breaks that up.

But...the colors of the scarf are perfection and I like the way they bookend the wine skinnies. So I think what I would love the absolute best would be the best of both worlds...the scarf tied in a more vertical way. I know the current scarf trends go more like you have it here, just up around the neck, but I love scarves more done long. That's me, always behind the trends!

Sharan, I'm chiming back in to say that I like the pattern mixed scarf combination too. Just liked the simplicity of the necklace a wee bit more.

I do like the necklace.
Not to drive you crazy, but looking at the necklace makes me think an even larger pendant would be fab--simple but bigger. The tunic can take the drama.
Booties and oxfords look good. Booties a bit dressier. Oxfords good for a laid-back vibe.

Oh gosh, can't go wrong with any of them. I like the necklace breaking up the tunic, but I also love the pattern mixing/colour bookending of the scarf. And all boots work well too.

Just for fun, would you be willing try both the necklace and the scarf? Or is that too much going on for you?

Hi all--thanks for your advice!

I saw Peri's and Angie's responses before I left, and I did leave the house in the necklace and the booties, plus I tied the scarf long as Peri suggested--and as I see Elizabeth also suggested, wearing both! However, I took off the scarf at work, because I felt the necklace was less obtrusive/easier to wear.

Windchime, Good thought. I don't know of a different top off-hand, to complete the outfit. But the scarf isn't a favorite; it's cheap and flimsy, so I wasn't dying to wear it.

Angie, we were sooooo busy at work--it seems that once the rain stopped, everyone headed out to do their errands.

unfrumped, this is the biggest pendant I have. Or maybe I have one that is slightly bigger, but same idea. Thanks for the thought; I wasn't even sure about a necklace with this tunic, with its busy, all-over pattern.

#1, but without the necklace.
I like the oxfords, but I'd think they'd look much better with a shorter top.
How do you like the Madewell skinnies. I saw them today and was intrigued, though I didn't bother to try them on.

Anna, I like the Madewell skinnies a lot. The fabric is very soft and comfy. Skinnies that don't have a lot of give are often too calf-sucking on me, and these feel great, not too tight. I wore them yesterday and today, with tops untucked, so without a belt. I have to hike them up occasionally, but still, I could actually wear without a belt, and that's a plus for me. Oh, and size-wise, I took the larger of the two sizes I usually wear in jeans.

I know I'm late to the party, but I like #1 best with the necklace and the Paul Green booties or the necklace in #1 but with the Munro booties.

I like pattern mixing, but I'm always super hesitant when the two patterns are right on top of/next to each other. I like to give them a little space with a solid in between.

Any shoe is will work, but no scarf is a cleaner/crispier look:-). BTW nr 1 is my fave!
