Outfit Lab : Terracotta Tunic/Dress

Hi Fabbers

I would love to hear everyone's thoughts on what to wear with this tunic, which is in my current favourite colour. Keep in mind I do live in a seaside resort town. Everyone is wearing shorts and floaty dresses. I do have a satin chemise underneath for extra heft as this tunic is extremely thin and floaty. It is from Indian designer True Spirit. I will only wear the dress version during the day around the sea and the like. The versions with pants are for night time walks to our old town or the resort complex where there is plenty of informal night life, or out to tavernas or coffee shops. I have my preferences but am keen to hear from the hive mind. The leather thongs can also be changed with my camel wedge cage sandals, or gold dainty sandals. I can swap the chunky necklace for bold bangle/s. Also I will consider belting it when and if I get my waist definition back.

1- Great color and I like the loose, flowy style for summer. This is a lovely dress on you. I like the dress version a lot with the simple shoe. You look relaxed and comfortable.

2- the denim jeans look very heavy against the loose fit dress. But I’m generally off long jeans for hotter months personally.

3- I like the idea of linen cargos but wish these were a looser or tighter fit for more contrast against the flowy dress.

4- I prefer these wide leg pants for the extra drama they bring compared with the previous pant options. The volume paired with volume is a fun look that I am also sporting this summer with wide leg pants and linen shirts.

5 - My favorite of the pant options. I like the lighter color and contrast of slim fit leg paired with the flowy dress best.

My favorite is #4. I like it with denim, too. I have a tunic top in this color and sometimes style it with jeans. I also wear mine with cropped cream pants. My preference is to wear a tunic with wider leg cropped pants but it is not everyone’s cup of tea.

These are all nice choices. My favorites are #2 with the slim legs and #4, the flowy bottoms. I like how they match the buttons. All are nice with the strappy sandals.

All versions work. Good job!

#2 and #4 are my personal faves. Oranges are great with blues, and the wider leg bottoms are dressy and elegant with the flowing top. Summery!

I love that color! I wore it a lot before I went grey. I like #2 and #5 best. Have you thought about leggings under it?

#2 and #4 get my votes. The colour of the tunic is a slam dunk for pairing with denim, and the silouhette in #4 (and the co-ordination with the buttons) is really good.

What fun! I would also unbutton it and wear it like a floaty jacket, or belt it at the waist and unbutton the bottom a bit to make it more like a structured cardigan.

I guess I'm an outlier here, but like # 3 the best. The similar color of the buttons/pants draw the eye to them, giving a long lean look. The coordinating jewelry and shoes really bring everything together. Great outfit

What cat2 said -- I'd love to see it as a topper worn open as well! I like #2 and #4 the best and also agree with Irina that it could work with wide leg crops as well. FAB colour for you!

I like #1 the best, as a dress. Simple and pretty. Then I surprise myself by liking #4 way better than the other pants outfits. I must be finally getting used to the look of wider legs after how many years? Somehow that outfit looks really elegant.

Thanks so much all for looking and commenting, different preferences around here but one constant is that #4 is universally approved. I think it is my favourite too although have yet to wear it in the wild. It will be my next choice after laundering.

JENNI it does feel somewhat elegant to me too, and a little dramatic, which I like.

JAILEEN I have summer leggings in a zebra print that I use sometimes when I want a bit of extra cover, particularly at night, and I may well wear them together.

SLOPER, SUZ and CAT2 I think it may be a bit thin for a duster but will definitely give it a try as I love the drama of a duster and often look for a light weight cover up on a summer night so it may be a very appropriate solution.

ANGIE good to hear you approve of all versions. Options for different moods.

DOGGEH LOVER #3 is also a favourite of mine.
