Outfit Lab: Bronze Lug Sole Booties

I got these bronze booties on Poshmark and love the idea of them, however, I haven’t worn them much for two reasons, the zipper tends to slip down which I’m assuming I can fix (according to google) and it’s a new style I haven’t adjusted to yet. They remind me of some Doc Martens I used to wear in my twenties and I always liked the look then.

Pic 1 and 2: What I’m wearing today with kick flares, lace cami, white bag and Cameo necklace at home to do taxes, blarg. Might add scarf to go out.

Pic 3: same jeans with a navy knit jacket, white top and brown ammonite necklace.

Pic 4 and 5: Charcoal tee with straight slim lilac jeans and bag, with pearl, silver and gunmetal Y necklace or scarf.

Pic 6: With white boot cut, same Y necklace, macrame bag. It’s funny these regular length jeans look strange to me now after wearing crops.

Pic 7: Jeans, rose brown wrap top, layered necklaces and statement coat with bronze buttons. Might be too much jewelry with the buttons.

I do have a rose brown dress maxi these boots would go well with.

Honest opinions in general and whether they look better with flares, boot cut or a straight cut?

You know, to me it’s not the pants - it’s the jackets. I think the boots need a slim, close fitted - esp in the shoulders- short jacket…

I like the booties and love that jacket. I know what you mean about full length pants, I'm just not sure how long they should be any more. But I like your outfits. I like the boots best with the cropped jeans, it seems like they are too clunky looking under the full length pants.

I love the boots with the cropped jeans. And therefore I’d try cuffing the full length jeans. For me the zipper on the boots is essential so needs a short pant to show them off.
and I love that robin eggs floral coat!

I think I like them best with the raw edge jeans, but somehow none of these have your trademark allure. Not sure if that’s the boots’ fault.

Agreeing that you could try cuffing the white and lavender pants.

Thanks everyone! I think after trying these outfits and reading your replies, this is an old style that I may have moved on from even though it is trendy. Combat boots and Chelsea boots seem to be sleeker than the chunky shape of these. I’m thinking about letting them go.

I'm with kkards too. Showcase more of the boots with shorter pants. Hem, roll or cuff.

#1, 3 and 7 work best to my eye.

Thanks Angie! Maybe I’ll give they another try with cuffing. I noticed in this pic of Karen Blanchard where she’s wearing cropped straight legs — her hair and the duster coat seem to balance the boots in my mind.

My favorites are #3 and #7. I would say first take them to the cobbler to get the zipper fixed - that would drive me crazy. I think the boots have a lot of potential for your style.

I have what the forum calls a sugar eye for a cropped flare . So - I like that version best . I also agree that the lilac jeans with a cuff could me an interesting alternative .
