Outfit Lab: Blazers for Work - YouLookFab Forum

Finally I had a nice chunk of time to try styling my blazers!
As was pointed out to me in my "bamboozled by blazers" post by some astute forum members, the less casual blazer outfits I like were more "done" than my usual looks, with layered sleeves/jewellery/etc. I am sure done hair and jewellery would make a difference, but here is what I came up with in terms of the clothes. I think some of these are more succesful than others, but would love your opinions! Pardon my undone hair...

#1 Zara Boyfriend Blazer + J.Crew Factory sheath dress + Club Monaco blouse + Blue Patent Belt
#2: Ricki's cropped black blazer + Old Navy checked chiffon blouse + RW&Co pleated chiffon skirt
#3 Ricki's open blazer with black stretch belt overtop + J.Crew Factory Dress + Old Navy checked chiffon
#4 Ricki's open blazer + Old navy checked chiffon blouse + Grey Vest (From April!) + Banana Republic black and white sloan ankle pants
#5 Ricki's open blazer + BCBG godet dress + Reitmans heart print blouse + Black Belt
#6 Ricki's cropped blazer + Old Navy checked chiffon shirt + Banana Republic skirt
#7 Ricki's open blazer + Old Navy pink chiffon shirt + Banana Republic black and white sloan ankle pants
#8 is #3 again, but belted on the inside of the blazer
#9 Zara boyfriend blazer + Old Navy checked chiffon shirt + Old Navy studded sweater + Banana Republic sloan ankle pants

Wow, Emily, I think you've got it down! All of these are great. The proportions are just stunning, all the pairings creative and flattering. The only one I hesitate a little bit on is 3, with the belt over the blazer; maybe close the blazer? The rest are perfect 10s in my book.
How do you feel about them? Better than you were feeling before about your blazer looks? The do strike me as every bit as cool as the ones you had pinned.

Wow! Nicely done. Just wondering, though, am I the onlyone who would like to see a darker shoe in #2 to balance the volume of the skirt?
#4 is snazzy. Makes me think of Oscar Wilde for some reason.

Looks like you've sorted it all out. Great looks, and I think they all work. I am especially liking 1 and 4. I like how you've used the same elements and mixed them up - capsule!

Excellent. It looks like you have wearing a blazer sorted out. They all work beautifully and 7 is outstanding to my eye.

I like them, Emily! My special favourite is #7. Very elegant and chic. #4 is also fun and playful while still being dressy enough for work. It would be great on a day when some fun after work (but part of work) activity was planned, or for a colleague's birthday lunch or similar.

How do you feel in them? Are they more "you"?

They look great! My favourites are 4 and 5...but all great combos.

These all look great to me! I especially love the casual J. Crew-ish feel of #9 and the dressy yet playful feel of #2 and #5 with the swingy skirts.

Of the ones with the blazer over the sheath dress, I like the versions with the belt on the inside the best. Maybe because having a little more movement with the jacket kind of offsets the strict and buttoned-up feel of the outfits.

Egads. Can't tell you how much I like these looks - they feel fresh to me. And everything fits so nice! Lies so flat... as in, I'd be all rumpled and things would be pulling this way and

Wow. My faves are when you wear a severe blazer in an unexpected and youthful way...so 2,4,5,9 really hit the high notes. Pleated skirt + jacket=super fab.

The others are also goid just not as strong.

#2, #4, #5 and #7 are more current combinations and to my eye look best. I love those looks. Well done.

#6 is lovely too, although a lot more classic.

#1, #3 and #8 are the most conservative. Perhaps your line of work calls for this type of outfit from time to time?
