Outfit lab - wide leg crops - YouLookFab Forum

Though I loved the Madewell corduroy crops enough to buy them (knowing I could not return them) I was worried they might not work with what I had at home, and that I would have to shop for more things (tops) to go with them. Well, I needn’t have worried! I came up with 6 outfits (see pics below) using the pants as a base.

#2 Hokusai Blue t-shirt - Uniqlo (2019)
Jean jacket - Denver Hayes/MWWH (2014)
White Sneakers - Sketchers (2018)

#3 mustard striped sweater - Pink Rose (2019)
Wine leather belt - Italian Collection/Winners (2017)

#4 cream/navy striped cotton sweater - Denver Hayes/MWWH (2018)

#5 black tank top - Yogalicious (2019)
Embroidered black satin bomber jacket - Zara (2016)

#6 black wool jacket - Loft/thrifted (2019)
Leopard flats - Town Shoes (2017)

I do have to try these outfit combinations on to ensure they work together - but I am no longer worried about the decision to bring the crops home with me!

Do you have the Find for those, Carla? I got some GAP ones but they aren't cropped on me and aren't mustard but more of a browny-ochre. I would prefer a real mustard to work with my Cons. Thoughts?

That’s great Carla! I love the idea of laying them out like that! Saves time in trying on. It is scary when you can’t return things- which happens to me a lot. I think really hard about what I have and often take my lists of my wardrobe with me now to help.

agree that this is an excellent first step on at outfit lab....and you probably know that most of those tops/jackets/shoes already work together...so once you get the silhouette combinations sorted you may not even need to try most of the whole outfits on. Brilliant!

These combos are so good! The warm and cool neutrals really harmonize in a fun, sassy way. I can't wait to see you in some of these. #5 and #6 have such a great mix of elegant and casual. Love all the others, too. You have really done well with these crops.

I have to give credit to Sal for the idea of laying things out flat like this and taking a pic. It is a quick trick, but the proof is in the try on. I’ve come up with two more outfits - navy BR button down and navy flats, and jean shirt on it’s own or used as a layer over a T.

When I searched Pinterest for ideas all I got was striped mariner t’s! Works, but soooo predictable.
