I saw this a few weeks ago, and as a photographer, I'm not surprised at all. What an interesting exercise, and how much it says about how strong preconceived notions can be, and how easily image-makers can craft appearances.
It makes me think of the stylist Sherrie Mathieson who came to this work after a career as a theatre costume designer - we all co-construct this story of self and others (Did I tell you I love research on image and identity?!?!?!?)...
i actually think this would have been more interesting if they had all been told the same story…..as this "experiment" went, i think it was more about the preconceived notions of the people who set it up….
