OT/Update - The Coffee Conversation Follow Up ... and my second rash.

So I had a coffee and a sit down with that girl to talk about 1) making comments about other professionals and 2) her wardrobe. She told me that she did not appreciate it when people like me gave her comments about what she wore - and that it was mainly because I was jealous ("You wish you were like me") ... and she did not see why she cannot use nurses as personal handmaidens. I am rotating off the service, I am also washing my hands clear of this matter. Good riddance.

Rash update! I got a cream from my family doctor. My rash started to blister EVEN MORE. The very kind dermatologist took a look at it for me - yeah; I'm allergic to that original cream. So I have an allergic dermatitis on top of whatever I had in the first place. FML.

On the plus side, I met a very graceous junior clerk today. She had the cutest tall boots ever. *gush*

PS: New dress at Dynamite I'm drooling over ... but I think I can replicate the look w/ the obis I already have. Saving up my pennies for another Halogen purchase. You ladies have me hooked!

Good riddance indeed, Lyn. You do what you can, and if she's going to ignore your advice, that's her perogative - but she certainly needs to know it's not okay (totally inappropriate) to make comments about other professionals like she did, vs. approaching someone privately to share concerns about the negative perception that a wardrobe choice might convey about someone's level of professionalism.

I've recently had a somewhat similar recurring encounter to yours where someone was making comments at inappropriate times & to inappropriate people, and it is miserable.

So sorry that the rash is being even more reactive! Holy cow. I hope your dermatologist is able to find a solution finally. Do you think it's possible that you may have a latex allergy/irritation, just knowing where you work?

Wow, she just sounds more and more appalling! Well, you have done your duty and can do nothing more. I hope she doesn't harm too many people once she's a doctor :).

Ugh about the associate! And interesting that she found you commenting on her apparel inappropriate but she was happy to do so to you. As for the rash - sounds just like my situation. The cure is as bad as the ill! I also was allergic to my topical antibiotic, which led to secondary cellulitus. Yeah, the burning, searing pain is lots of fun. I hope you get it cleared up ASAP.

I'm not nurse, but you did the right thing. If she makes it to residency, she'll get hers. Nurses can quickly make a residents life hell, just by clarifying every single order. Excuse my language. I work in training hospital with med students, & residents. The med students I deal with are so meek.

Oy, this poor girl really has a chip on her shoulder... "You wish you were like me"? Really? Isn't that what women always yell at one another on trashy talk shows? She is definitely compensating for something... I don't think she will wake up to her behavior until it directly affects her in a very negative way. Even then, some people will always be victims in their own minds...

Anyway, yes, you did all you could. Thank goodness you will be free of her after this!

I don't remember if I commented on the first thread (old age I guess) but this seems to me like a very messed up girl. In logical terms if when you comment on what she wears you are jealous then when she comments on what you wear she is the jealous one.
It was very kind of you to try to reach out to her and I believe that down the road she will understand what you were trying to say.
I am so sorry about your rash.At least now you know what was making it worse.
Not trying to be an enabler here but that dynamite dress looks like something you would wear well.

it sounds like she has a BIG problem. So she does not like comments on what she wears but she feels it is her right to make comments to others? Her world is really screwed up big time! You tried to help her, she rejected - well, life will teach her the hard way...
That is awful about the rush and having an allergic reaction to the treatment - poor Lyn! I hope it will heal soon - keep us posted!

Ick! What an awful, negative person this girl must be. Some people really just do not get it. Good thing you don't have to deal with her any more! This is negativity that you do not need.

So sorry to hear about the rash! I'm glad you figured out the source (both primary and secondary) though. In cases like this, I revert to using only my mildest cleanser (my glycerin based face wash) and Eucerin cream.

lyn, I just think your junior clerk is hilarious. Not in a good way, but in the completely absurd way. I'm sure she's unpleasant, but from waaaaaay over here, it's pretty comical.

You, on the other hand, are really a doll for being so responsible and helpful. Way to go.
