OTK boots at NAS

I have a big decision ahead of me: Go for a pair of $89 used OTK boots on ebay (original price: $605, excellent brand, only signs of wear are on the sole, but it's a gamble whether or not they'll fit). Or skip out on them and find a pair at NAS. I guess the real question is whether or not there is a good selection of *flat* riding style OTK boots at NAS. Anyone who has preselected--can you shed some light? Even if there is a good selection, I don't know if I can find a pair that is going to be short AND narrow enough in the calf for me...not to mention comfortable.

To make matters even more complicated, the ebay boots *can* be returned, less shipping costs, so it isn't actually that risky. The problem is that I'm going to NAS before they will arrive (auction closes on Wednesday), so I won't know if they fit or not when I go.

Did I mention they have exposed zips?

Oh man. This is tough...

I'd say order the ebay boots. Then go to NAS, and see if you find any you like. Then, just mentally add the cost of shipping the ebay boots back to the price of any pair you like, and see if that still is an acceptable price.

Get the measurements for the ebay boots and compare them against the measurements I sent you from my OTK boots. Or better yet, order the boots from ebay, go to NAS and try on the OTK boots there to compare and then make your mind up then.

Dawn, the ebay boots are 21". I looked up your boots' measurements again and they were 20". 21" might work since I think my legs might be a bit longer than yours.

I'm being intentionally mysterious about which boots they are but in the pictures I found on the net, they just barely cover the model's knee. On me they will probably hit around 2" over the knee.

However, they supposedly run half a size small, so now I'm no so sure. This brand also runs narrower and my feet need space. I might not end up bidding on them after all, though they are gorgeous boots

You mentioned on the NAS thread that you were going to ask Angie about the Apepazza Caligari's......any more info on those? I really like them but I'm not sure and wondered if Angie had any insights?

I already asked about them. She has no personal experience with them but said they look lovely. I would go for them but I'm really bent on black so I decided to pass on them.

Cathy (cciele) ordered them so she would know better than me.

Thanks Maya. I love them in brown (which is very unusual for me!) and want them....but also just ordered more boots...trying to tell myself that 4 very different pairs of boots is justified

It's hard to tell, but for $89 they may be pretty much what you want in a boot. If not, then you are out the original shipping, plus the return shipping :-\

But, you have talked lately about not wanting to make the 'investment' in things, and this helps. Also, if they were originally $600+, then their quality should be more than adequate.

Be sure you have researched all you can about this manufacturer and this style, so there are no surprises (is the 1/2 size up a problem or a good thing?).

I am personally willing to gamble on this sort of thing, but if I need to return then I regret wasting my time and shipping $$ (of course).

P.S. Angie knows you pretty well and she simply said to get the ebay boots. . .

I say go for the Ebay boots. If NAS has something that strikes your fancy, you can always buy them, compare both when you have them and return the one's that didn't work out.
