Where do you get a nice crisp button down shirt? I used to buy some at banana republic, but their no iron shirts this season are shiny. I don't want shiny. Gap's are too flimsy. The nordie's clerk I talked to today showed me the Nexx blouses, but they silky. Express blouses have a v-neck above the button portion.

Why is such a basic so hard to find?

Oh, oh! I got this one! Foxcroft has the best quality non-iron button-downs I've ever found.

I bought my nicer one at Macy's; I think it is Jones NY. The fabric is much thicker than the one I bought at Talbot's. The style I bought doesn't button to the top since I have a short neck and it probably fit me better though my full bust. Banana Republic is cut too straight for my body. Lands End shirts are not nearly the quality they were 20 or 25 years ago, but then what is? Brooks Brothers has nice quality but none of the cuts are great on me. For my next white shirt, I would probably try Nordstrom in a regular brand, probably not Halogen or Caslon since I would want thicker fabric than they usually use. Nordstrom seems most likely to get my body.

Does jcrew have styles that work on a curvy figure? Last time I tried clothes on there, I walked out feeling really discouraged.

Hm, you're right that they're not great for curves. I'm a bit curvy for my size, and J Crew is generally longer and straighter than I am. Everlane is good on me but their shirts are a less professional cut.

The best buttondown I own is Theory but I bought it used and it was still quite expensive. Their shirting fabric has more nylon than I'm used to and somehow it holds its shape perfectly. I did go up a size (as always with Theory), but it fits my chest. However, I'm not super-curvy so your mileage may vary.

I get my Foxcroft's at Nordstrom. Watch for their Anniversary sale. I purchase one every year then when they are on sale. oh, And I end up getting the petites to fit me properly so you may want to try both petite and regular.

Foxcroft for sure!!! The non-wrinkle or wrinkle-free stay crisp washing after washing. I find they do best washed in warm water and dried on low heat. Some of their fabrications are not wrinkle-free, but they iron up very nicely. There are different styles: classic fit (kind of straight and boxy); shaped fit and fitted fit.

Foxcroft always fits me well through the shoulders, arms, and full cupped bust. It tends to run a bit big in the hips for me, but that's an easy fix if I were so inclined. Some of the cuts and prints can look a bit frumpy on me (obviously not solid white!), so I have to be careful. They tend to cut their shirts straight or with a minimal curve at the bottom which I think contributes to the vibe.

I recently ordered a few from Charles Tyrwhitt. I think it is ctshirts.com

I really like them and find they fit nicely without being too loose or too tight anywhere.

Another vote for Foxcroft here. I also used to wear Eddie Bauer no-iron shirts. Haven't tried them in a long time (I just don't wear this style of shirt anymore), but I liked the quality and the price was very reasonable.

I second Foxcroft (sometimes found on Sierra trading post at good prices or Nordstrom Rack) and I like the Jones NY non-iron (I do have to size up 1 for the bust, but they recognize women who have one at least) and also the LL Bean wrinkle resistant pinpoint oxford (not the most form fitting, but I wash in machine and hang to dry and only touch up the collar with the iron a bit. I got a tunic length from them last year in white and it's a workhorse for me.

I like my Foxcroft non-iron shirt from NAS much better than BR non-iron shirts and it is a bit longer.I am seriously considering a Foxcroft tunic length now (I stupidly missed it when it was on sale some time ago!) and hope it would work great for tucking in.

I've had mixed luck with Foxcroft. Some are good and some have not lasted. I would check out Lands' End and Eddie Bauer.

I like Express and Jcrew as alternatives to BB. I haven't tried Foxcroft yet though!

I love Foxcroft. I tried the Brooks Bros and they were too short for my long torso.
