OTBT boots: quick review!

So I'm on Team Wear and I wore these today for a MOTG outfit with bootcuts. They are incredibly comfy, a good height, and not noisy (walking around DS's school halls!). No break-in pains so far. The color is fairly subdued for a metallic. I would say they are TTS given that i always size up a half-size for width. IMHO they are a real find and will be very versatile. They have that unique "statement essential-neutral" combination that I'm discovering is my best bet for becoming a workhorse.

Anyone a lemming?

So tempting! My finger is twitching on the trigger! They would go perfectly with my gold lame blouse! Booties are tricky on me though--I suffer from flowerpot syndrome. How wide are the ankles?

Did you see my pictures, Natalie? I have super-skinny ankles and these are quite a good fit. Not really snug but no flowerpot.

Natalie, my calves are in the 12.5 - I think my ankles MAY be 9"... wlll give you measurements. These need a little room IMHO or they would chafe. Could tuck skinnies, but they fit neatly under jean hems.

You need to post that review on the Nordstrom site! I like how you have described the fit and how they wore for a typical day.

ETA - I'd be a lemming if they came in silver!

I am tempted but since I'm pretty sure I'm keeping the EF booties I really shouldn't buy yet another pair.

As an aside, I have 15" calves and 7.5" (8" on the left which is permanently swollen from past sprains) ankles! No wonder I have so many flowerpot/galoshes problems.

This ankle/ calf measurement thing is fascinating.

My calves are 13.5 and my ankles are 8". Yet Natalie's legs look SOOOOO much more slender and delicate than mine. What the heck? Is it just because she is taller and longer legged than I am?

The Munro booties looked like flowerpots on her feet and fit mine like a glove.

Okay, people -- a warning. I think I know what part of the issue is. I -- and especially Una -- have relatively small feet for our height. So the shafts of these booties fits more snugly.

If you have a long narrow foot, you will take a bigger size, and it will be correspondingly bigger around. Does that makes sense?

Natalie, mine are 9" and Una and I both fit those Gidigio boots. Here's a pic of them on my feet. Also a quick pick of them in a full body (albeit workout wear) shot, since I think you are a bit taller than me with similar sized feet.

They just came in today, and they feel wonderful after standing all day. These will replace my DIY bronze booties (#3), which sadly didn't breathe at all and promoted feelings of toe rot.

ETA: Suz, I have a *gasp* size 9 (!!) foot, and 9" ankles, and the opening fits me very similarly to Una. o_0

Ruh Roh. I assumed a brand that claims to make shoes for travel would line in a breathable material, but it's PU. I may have to return these on account of sweaty feet. :_(

Of course in Alaska, Una's going to wear them more with hose/ socks so it probably won't matter to her.

Okay - I am completely and irrevocably befuddled by all of this bootie measurement stuff then. Angie had mentioned once that the shafts were different (height and width) depending on the foot size with knee-high boots, but maybe it ain't so with booties. So what gives with those Munros? They look completely different on Nat and on me. I DO have a higher volume foot than she does with a higher arch. But is that all it is?

No...it's the shortness of my darned legs. I suspect.

Yeah, I'd wear with socks, too, but with all that running around I get pretty clammy.

There are a lot of factors in footwear. Natalie's foot might be flatter in the instep, but I think I'd have to see them side by side. I have a very flat looking and bony foot (despite a high arch), and there are definitely some styles that look weird on me, too.

Interesting! I just measured my ankle and calf. My ankles are 8 1/4" and my calf is 12 1/2" - but I have a skinny foot (low volume) - size 7 1/2. Many, many shoes look absolutely awful on me - especially flats.
I'd be all over these boots if they were silver, rather than gold!
Suz - I think the length of your leg from knee to ankle also influences whether or not you get the flowerpot look when you wear ankle boots - regardless of the measurements of ankle or calf.

I definitely have short calves. My feet are 6.5 or 7, depending. Usually 7 for boots. Which is sort of average for my height, I guess?

Super gorgeous and super tempting, but I've already bought Okala pumps and JCrew chelsea boots for fall and I have to draw the line somewhere.

I'll just live vicariously through you, Una. Glad they're proving their worth already.

I love the look of those booties and am very tempted. I find I either get the flowerpot look or the chafing because the booties rub at the front of my ankle when I walk but I think I would have been a lemming if I hadn't bought three pairs of booties last winter.

These look perfect for you, Una, and comfortable too! I'd love to be a lemming, but the heel is still too high, if not for comfort, then for my pants hemmed for flats.

Oh heavens to murgatroid, I am such a lemming! I love those booties, and after reading everything above, I wear a size 9 shoe and have 9" ankles, and have been searching for a brown/gold pair of booties that are not loose at the top. Sounds like these would fit the bill!

But I don't really need boots/shoes right now...I am having foot surgery on my right foot in a month and a half, and I will be wearing that ugly black orthopedic boot-thing for about 6 weeks....oh what to do, what to do...

Oh, RAE! I didn't even consider that as sweaty feet are never an issue for me. In fact, I never look at that. What a pity...

I've realized I really only need to dress for two climates - cold and colder. Summer stuff is easy and sparse because there isn't that much of it.
