Gertrude is quite the mischievous and energetic puppy and likes to get herself in sticky situations. The vet joked that I should wrap her in bubble wrap!

Poor Jasmine! I couldn't imaging hearing my baby was sick while overseas. What a bad situation, but I'm glad it turned out okay. She's a stronger girl because of it and will definitely live to be 100!

I second the toast to healthy YLF animals.

Maya: I'm happy that your kitty is feeling better! They are definitely mot sturdy than we think.

I brought my kitty to the vet for bladder blockage once and they kept him there for two nights. He meowed and jumped to me when I went to pick him up. I will never forget his "I know you and BTW thanks for saving me" attitude the rest of the day. He's 10 years old now.

I'm glad she's feeling better, Maya. Hunger is definitely a good sign, and soon you'll be able to feed her so you'll feel better, too!

I agree with many others, animals have an amazing ability to heal. My Duffy went through so much crazy stuff when he was alive, including getting into a fight with another kitty that led to an abscess in his cheek. The entire right side of his face swelled up and he had to have a plastic tube put into it! Gross, I know, but he healed perfectly. I'm sure Toulouse will as well.

Good morning, Maya. How did your little kitty do during the night? Hope she had a good night and is feeling better this morning.

maya, i'm late to comment, but i just wanted to add my own warm wishes for a speedy recovery for toulouse! i know she means a lot to you.

I just got a call from the vet saying her blood work is normal, thank goodness. She has also started to eat a little bit today and so far hasn't vomited. Now I just need her to drink some water and use her litter box and we will be all set. I'm SO relieved. The doc thinks it was a reaction to the antibiotic we gave her for her UTI. She was in such bad shape this weekend I was sure it was something worse.

Thank you everyone for your well wishes and kind words. They really did help a lot.

Marianna: Poor Gertrude! I hate the sound of animals crying. Glad she is all better now and splinter-free.

Angie, I'm very happy that your puppy dog is in good shape now. Your blog pictures would not be the same without both of their cute little faces. To be abroad while your pet is on death's door must have been a nightmare. I can't even imagine. I stayed home with kitty all weekend and I was STILL a wreck. Here's to happy, healthy YLF pets!

My thoughts are with you and Lucie. It is so hard when your little furbabies are suffering and you can't do anything about it. I had a scare with my only boykitty several weeks ago and I felt so helpless. Thank goodness (as Angie said) pets are so strong. I'm glad Lucie is eating, that is a GREAT sign. Keep us posted!

Maya, my thoughts are with you and Lucie too. We are between "furbabies" right now waiting for our puppy to be born, but the last one was a heartbreaker.

Maya, thanks for the update. I hope things are looking up for Lucy (or is it Lucie? I'm sorry my memory is failing me)

Maya - I have been away and just saw this post; I hope you and Toulouse are doing okay. As everyone has said, it's so difficult when our dearest companions are in trouble. (I have been away for five days and Sarah is now following me around the house to make sure I don't leave again - who says cats are standoffish?) Please keep us posted about Lucie.

Good to hear that Lucie is on the mend. That means that you are too, Maya! And let’s hope everyone’s fur babies stay happy and healthy. After all, they are important family members, just like children.

Thanks for chiming in about Jasmine. She is a strong little feisty number and I’m very grateful for that. If she were weak, she would not be with us today. I shudder to think.

I'm late reading all this as well. I am so happy to hear Toulouse is doing better now Maya. How is that super cutie today?

Animals are indeed stronger than we sometimes think, but my heart breaks while reading about what some of your pets have been through.

Here's to the health of all the YLF pets and their Mums and Dads!

Thanks for chiming in Inge. She was a little terror yesterday. Pulled all sorts of outrageous stunts to get me out of bed and to the feeding station. But I was glad to see her being so naughty, because naughtiness usually corresponds to healthiness.

Today she just seems confused. She has to take one of her pills with food, but the other one has to be taken on an empty stomach. In the morning, after she took her antibiotic, I was following her around with her food dish and driving her crazy until she finally relented and ate a bit. In the afternoon, when we gave her the other pill, she wanted to eat, but I had to take her food dish away! She is just totally confused, poor thing.

She has been sleeping with me for the past several days which is sooo nice. I like having a nice warm, soft, purring little pillow on my bed.

April, anyone who thinks cats are standoffish hasn't met enough cats (certainly no Siamese cats). Kitties are as diverse in personalities as humans are. Boo to animal stereotyping.

Joy, the wonderful thing about pets is that even as heartbreaking and devastating as it is to lose them, it is always such a delight when a new one comes into your life.

Just like a child....being naughty when they feel better.:)

Just read Angie's nightmare...there are no limits(time, space or distance) when it comes to LOVE.:)

Maya, how is your kitty doing today? Is she continuing to improve?

She threw up a little last night, and coughed up a hairball this morning =\ But she is eating and seems to be doing okay, so I'm hoping it's just a minor setback...
