DH was away in India for most of March and some of April and I was looking forward to some me time, a few fun projects and a LOT of YLF, shopping and wardrobe cleaning. Instead I was stuck with working 16 hrs a day for the most part. I did however manage to squeeze some fun projects, the biggest of which was a lot of hard work but thoroughly enjoyable. As some of you know my in-laws arrived for a 3 month stint from India about 2 weeks ago and my projects all revolved around re-doing the guest bedroom - making it pleasant and livable and so on. I didn't want to invest in new furniture or in more than a few decorative accents.

I found a vintage-y old (built in 1958!) chest of drawers for $40 at a furniture re-sale store and decide to refinish it - sand, prime and paint and switch out the hardware. I love how it has turned out and want to share with you all why I couldn't use even some of the little spare time I had on YLF.

The lamp you see in the left corner actually has a wine red glass base. I didn't want to buy a new lamp so I bought a pair of knee-high socks at target, cut off the socks at the ankles, cut each sock open vertically and sewed them together to form a giant sock. The slipped the sock over the lamp base and used some thread as a drawstring at the neck of the lamp. I love the cheery colors!

The duvet set is by Dwell Studio for Target and I love it. Has my favorite colors. I love that Dwell Studio hooked up with Target, I've always wanted to buy some of their stuff and now I could afford them without breaking the bank.
I just had exactly 3 12 x 12 blank canvases lying around for ages so I decided to do some watercolors to go with the colors in the duvet set. It's pretty amateurish but I don't mind as long as it brightens the room I didn't notice until now that the headboard is a bit crooked, LOL.

Anyways, not to write a book, but I've been meaning to share this pictures with you all for a while now. I feel so proud whenever I see that chest - so many hours of hard work and do overs. I don't think I will ever let go of that one piece of furniture. Funny how I wanted something disposable and this is the one thing I don't want to dispose of, ever. Everybody loves that room and it is my favorite now, of the whole house.

Thanks ladies!
