So the weekend turned out completely not per plan.

My daughter and me were feeling crummy as we flew out. By the next morning my daughter had a middle ear infection and was started on antibiotics, i developed a high fever and a sinus infection and started antibiotitcs and my niece developed bacterial conjunctivitis and a bronchitis and also started antibiotics.

So the birthday party was cancelled due to the germ fest.

My Mother in law was staying over the first night ( she helps with my niece during the week) and reached out to me by cooking me my favorite eggplant dish and gifting me an amazing sequinned top and stylish jacket/buttonless sweater. I will model this on a date night in the future. Normally my MIL takes her cues from her husband and has been reserved and distant so this was a very warm surprise indeed.

As it turned out our getting sick was a blessing in disguise because I had forgotten my Karen Kane jeggings that were the base for two planned outfits.

So I have a token pic of my niece and me: she's crying because I'm leaving.....

And I'm also including a pic of a new emerald color ( malachite) ring I purchased in honor of today's blog post.
