I thrifted an incredible vintage Christian Dior coat for $20 yesterday. It's in pristine condition (pockets still sewn shut), rusty orange, heavy wool with leather (oops, they are not leather )buttons, lined, a very retro classic style that to my eye does not look dated at all. It has the original label and a second tag from Harrods intact and looks to be from the 60s. It's too small for me; I actually got it as a 50th birthday gift for my dear friend.
Is this something that's likely to have any real value? I'm only asking because she lives a fairly rough and ready rural lifestyle, and I'd like to inform her if it's something she should not just throw in her entry where her dogs will be drooling on it.
ETA: Anna, she teaches high school so she will get use out of it for that purpose.
I'll post a picture when I get home if anyone's interested.
ETA: My thrift stores (Value Village) usually are terrible! I think they are importing from outside the state.
