Seriously, I think that every business major is going to be looking at this as a case study.

This makes me so embarrassed to be human... it's insanity like this that leads to the degeneration of quality in our stores! Come on, consumers, save your money for quality and craftsmanship rather than splurging on a cheap knockoff of a big name - or in some cases, spend LESS on quality and craftsmanship! ERG!

I thought I was the only one who didn't get this...any of it. The mad attraction to rainbow zig-zag print and a desperate need to acquire it...hu??? we are talking Target here right!!!

Cheap knock off of a designer doesn't make it great to me. Baffled by all the madness!

Rae, I SO agree with you. I am utterly astonished. I said to my hubby that Missoni is known for fine fabrics and artful, uniquely talented craftsmanship. This bike is made in China and someone painted some acrylic zig zags on it ! Really.

It goes to show that so many of us are really scared of being left out of something important. And predators capitalize on it and exploit it.

But you don't need to be embarrassed about our species because aren't we a YLF superior sub-species ?

Oh, gotta go bid on the bike ..........

Anything higher than Target prices is insane for these items. The bike was just silly to me. That said, the knit clothing is really nice quality and not obviously knock-off Missoni like some of the other designer lines were.

Now, the whole Ebay thing is driving me mad, which is why I went and picked up what I could for YLFers.

AG- that is what I find so amazing from a behavioral point of view. Some of the patterns and colors were beautiful, and we don't see them often. But it was a mass production, bridge line. Not a knock -off, because the Missonis were involved in the concept and legally licensed it. But to think that someone out there has already bid over $900 on a Target bike, is keeping me up. It also makes me sad.

( In full disclosure, I bought my daughter a tunic and a sweater cape. For what I thought was a very reasonable price, Missoni or not. )

I completely agree. It would also be interesting to do a study of what makes a perfectly reasonable person go out and buy things for on-line friends just to undermine e-bay.
