OT: The Fashion Style Test

As you may (or may not) know, I've recently started to work on my personal style. I'm fairly clueless and being a theoretical kind of person, I'm doing a research. I got some wonderful advice which is a good beginning; I read Angie's article "What is your fashion persona". I'm still unsure, but at least I know that I'm neither "the sporty natural" nor "the trendy fashionista". So far, so good.

Yesterday I stumbled upon "The Fashion Style Test". It was fun! The most surprising thing was my result. It is based on four factors: tasteful vs. flamboyant, conventional vs. original, deliberate vs. random, sexy vs. prissy. I got "Glamorous Soul" - Tasteful Original Deliberate Sexy.

I was... very surprised, to put it mildly. Whatwhatwhat? Me? Sexy? Tasteful? Deliberate? I must admit I loved the outfits that were on my result page (both male and female), but that's wildly different from my usual clothes!

Is the test wrong? Or maybe this is the first step towards my goal? Or... this is how would I dress if I liked my body?

I was happy with my result: [Tasteful Original Deliberate Prissy]... yes, I was even happy with the prissy part.

I also liked that it said, "there is a possibility that you work in the fashion industry. If you don't, perhaps you should." Hmmm...! O_O

Flamboyant Original Deliberate Prissy. 92% of the test takers are more sexy than I am. Not surprising. I think I came in at 34%...which is, all things considered, higher than I expected.

I think these tests are fun, but if you really want a better idea of your own style and are trying to find it- do a bunch of them that have different types of categories. Most people are combinations of fashion types, or one aspect of a test will really ring true, combined with other aspects of other tests.

You don't pay too much attention to fashion and far be it from you to spend hours on designing outfits which could shock your friends. If you ever shock them it's by how little you care about the clothes you're wearing. The only thing you pay attention to is not to look ridiculous. You don't need to draw attention wherever you come but you definitely need to know you are not the object of jokes. You are happy to blend in. I'm sure this approach leaves you a lot of time and energy for more interesting things than fashion.

LOL, you're right Itari, I can't see anyone wanting that. Even the people who *are* cheap, dull and random are usually that way because they simply don't notice what they're wearing and have their minds completely focused on something other than how they look. Which isn't a bad way to be, as long as you've got friends who know your true value.

That's a fun quiz: I got Catwalk Goddess with 56% Flamboyance, 58% Originality, 47% Deliberateness, 52% Sexiness. Which made me laugh, since I'm sitting on the couch in my pyjamas with my laptop (we decided to take the day off from being grownups, it's turning out very well).
