OT: Sherlock Holmes was soooo good!

I really did not know what to expect, I had not seen any previews at all. I was blown away by how good the movie was. Then again, I really like Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law. The musical score was captivating, the scenery was so well done, the plot was very interesting. It was just all around a fantastic movie! I highly recommend it! Anyone else like it or dislike it?

I want to see it! I have a weakness for Sherlock Holmes and I also like both RD and JL. However, I probably won't get to it until it comes out on DVD. We pretty much stopped going to movies since kids

I saw it on Xmas day and it was fun! RDJ is such a good actor. I don't prefer JL but he was pretty good in this movie actually.

Personally and much to my surprise, I thought Avatar was MUCH better than Sherlock Holmes.

It's going to be coming to our $1 theater, so we are waiting for that. My son wants to see Avatar, too. They just got in Where the Wild Things Are (which I really want to see), and Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs (which DD wants to see). Yes, I am behind the times on muy movie viewing (and severely kid oriented), but we are so excited to have the $1 theater because we get to see things before they hit video.

We debated between Sherlock Holmes and Up in the Air last night and ended up seeing Mr. Clooney. SO fabulous.

I'm looking forward to seeing Sherlock Holmes. I saw Avatar in 3-D and it was GREAT! I am sensitive to foul language and I have to say that I was quite surprised by what I heard for a PG-13 movie. Otherwise, the story was very well done.

I have some friends from church and we do a babysitting co-op. We each start off with six tickets per child. Each ticket is good for 1 hour of babysitting per child. So we "pay" each other with these tickets and in order to get more tickets, you need to babysit. It's worked out well.

We also have a sweet friend who works at night but offers to babysit for us once a month mid-day so that my hubby and I can have a lunch date. It's great to be able to have a nice meal sans the little ones and since it's lunch time, the entrees are not as expensive!

We saw Sherlock Holmes on the 1st, and I loved it. Jude Law is always a hit or miss for me, but he was a hit this time. RDJ is ALWAYS a hit, and I do like Rachel McAdams.
Great cast, great score (I really want to buy an old, out of tune piano, but I can't justify it considering I already have a piano - that's in tune, heh), great costumes, etc.
But spy/thriller/adventure are my favorite genres. This movie will go right up near the top with Bourne, Indiana Jones, and almost every James Bond.

No, not as good as Bourne. But pretty good. It is more of an entertaining watch than an engaging one, like Bourne. But as far as the overall movie, it's close.

Sherlock Holmes has always been portrayed as quirky and eccentric but I love the take on the character in this movie - devilishly handsome with razor sharp wit, dry humour and an endearing romantic side. Of course, it helps that I heart Robert Downey Jr.. I was also surprised at how well Jude law performed in his limited role. By far the best I have seen from him.

Robert Downey Jr is an acting genius. I am always impressed by him. In Sherlock Holmes I was amazed by what he could communicate by twitching his face.

Now, can we talk about the clothes in that movie? I pretty much wanted to wear all the clothes, men's, women's, whatever. Particularly Rachel McAdams' outfit from the very end: pants, riding boots, woven shirt, tailored vest. How great was that look?

I know! I particularly loved the charcoal suit on Jude Law with the maroon colored pinstripes. Yes please!
