Looks like Corey and are in the midst of a rough patch...Today we had to say goodbye to our darling Freddie Cat and put him down. Ever since we got him from a rescue organization, he's battled with urinary problems. Like many male cats, he develops crystals that have either caused him great pain or led to a potentially fatal urinary obstruction. He'd experience an episode every four to eight months, and the cost was beginning to pile up. Every episode seemed worse than the last, and our vet wasn't optimistic about the prognosis. There is a very expensive surgery that can help with the situation, but our vet said it may or may not work in his case and wouldn't eliminate the condition, just provide a potential work-around. When it started up again in the middle of the night, we knew we may be at the end of the road with Freddie, and our vet agreed.
We believe we've done the right thing and know without a doubt that we've given our Freddie-Cat a good life in the years we've had him, but this is tough nonetheless.
And the real zinger...this happened on Corey's birthday.
