I'm in the process of trying to plan a VERY small wedding ceremony -- we want about 6 people there max (including my fiance and me). I'm not into planning stuff as it is, and the ridiculous prices and procedures for everything is just making it worse.
First, shopping for a dress was the most obnoxious experience I've ever had. My BFF and I first went to David's Bridal, where we were not only told we were *not allowed to touch the dresses* but also that we had to go to the end of a very long line to fill out forms before we could shop. Said would have been nonexistent if the greeter had bothered to tell us about it straight off. We then went to a smaller, independent shop where the owner kept insisting that I order dresses from a catalog without trying anything on, and then refused to let me look at a dress on the wall because I'd "never fit into it." Factor in the fact that a dress that would be $100 in any other color is now $300 because it's white, and I was NOT a happy camper.
As if the dress shopping wasn't enough, even places that have free admission want $300 to $3000 for what will be a 10-minute ceremony with no decorations or seating needed.
All we're looking for is a cute place to take a couple of photos to commemorate the occasion. I didn't want to do a "guerrilla" wedding, as I hear you run the risk of fines, but this is just ridiculous!
