OT: Praise to the Pears, from an Hourglassy Inverted Triangle

Dear Pears,

- You don't know how lucky you are that you can wear ANY top you fancy because you don't have -usually- to deal with a, well, bigger bossom, nor bras to support it.

- You can wear any bra too, cute, patterned, sexy, strapless, flimsy, maybe not too covering or supporting, it doesn't really matter that much, does it? Well, enjoy!

- You guys are hot, and Shakira is proof of that. Really, feminine and curvy and oh so beautiful with your larger hips and a butt that actually exists.

I spend too much time trying to convince my jealous friends -jealous of my breasts, I mean- that they are not that small in the are and that they have gorgeous bodies. Some of my friends even plan to have cosmetic surgery in the future to 'solve' their 'problem'!!!

- Do not envy other women's cleavage, since boobs are not worth your money, backpains or unwanted attention.

- And a nice butt actually makes sitting on hard surfaces quite comfy. What's the use of that? I don't know, but I can't do it!

PS: I'm not complaining, I love my broad shoulders and sometimes boobs are actually nice -though most of the time they are a nightmare, especially when it comes to lingerie and swimwear shopping- but I just felt like our Pear Girls needed a bit of cheering up this week.

Well, I relate to some of your laments, even though I am on the pearish side of hourglass. I am actually thankful I have relatively big boobs because they help balance out my lower half a bit. And my pear shape does not come with an ample booty to help cushion those hard seats -- I got it all on the sides and not the back!

So I'll join you in the lingerie department looking for pretty but supportive bras, and when we take a shopping break, I'll find nice cushy chairs for both of us!

Hehe, I love this! The grass is always greener on the other side, right? FWIW, my booty doesn't really cushion, either - just kind of squishes out the back when I sit instead of padding my bones... lol. Sorry for that image.

The ITs have it pretty good, too, especially this season - bright colored and printed bottoms look amazing on our resident ITs!

Thanks Lemonade, this is great post. I'll think of you next time I am at the verge of moaning because I am pEarfect ;-), although I can hardly remembering the last time that happened. Something about spending time in a healthy environment like YLF makes one really get on with the body *I have now* rather than moaning for not being blessed by something else.

What your post highlights to me is the power of perception and self-perception - what we see as someone else's attribute may in reality be a bit of a burden, and the opposite - what we see as our own downside may appear as a blessing to someone else.

In short, we only have what we've been given and we can certainly choose to waste mental energy on wanting something different - and not being able to have it because we've simply been constructed the ceratin way. I say let's get on with accepting, loving, keeping healthy and stylishly dressing what we do have.

I'll second that loud and clear - I am one move away from a wardrobe malfunction in a bikini top! And I can't stand not being able to wear all the cute spaghetti strap tops that I've never gotten to try. Boobs are totally overrated IMHO.

Thirded! IT / hourglass over here, and if I try on yet another shirt that gaps at the bust I may scream! And I just returned five swimsuits (from two different retailers) this morning because IT-flattering suits in my size are apparently hard to come by.

All you pears out there (and, really, all you fab YLFers) are perfectly lovely in my book.

The grass is greener indeed! Sometimes I feel the same about my bottom part when you IT gals rock those jeans and trousers in all shapes and cuts - and I have to stay on the sidelines
As for the cushioning part...I had to get a bigger seat for my bike because it..err..hurts while my no-butt hubby happily riding the bike with the original skinny seat and no discomfort

But seriously it is so important to appreciate what you got and not to long for something you cannot have...makes one much happier person!

While I think it's important to be grateful for what I've got, I can't help but chime in with my admiration of the pretty pear. It would be the figure type I'd choose, if I could.

We pears have the gaping problem at the waist rather than the Bust! Often when jeans or skirts fit at the hips they are too big at the top, and forget pencil skirts- they cling where we definitely don't want them to!
That said I am a happy pear, and it is nice to be able to wear scarfs, frills, high necklines and structured shoulders to 'balance' things out.

Lyn, I actually *lied* in the title, I'm an hourglass with IT tendencies, so I actually have both gaping problems lol

I'm having a day when I am seriously envying you slim-hipped ladies, so I needed to come back and read this.

I just came from the gym, and even after 40 minutes of running on the treadmill and an hour of yoga, I do not rejoice when I see the expanse of hips and thighs in my workout pants. I guess I feel like you can always add volume to your hips with full garments, but I can never, ever, get away from mine.

I know we're all lovely in all of our variations. Why do these things get to us sometimes?

Haha I see a lot of grass is always greener comments so speaking as a pretty pear it would be nice to buy trousers off the rack that actually fit my pear size butt & thighs like you lovely IT girls can do and my oh my you wonderful hourglasses have sinfully delicious curves. But as others have said this forum is a great place to give you a balanced view of your personal style & body - appeciating and celebrating your good points.
