OT~ poorly furbaby

My poor furbaby Marley has cystitis again, as this is the 2nd time in a month they are investigating further. Blood test have come back ok so booked in for ultrasound and urine sample on Thursday. The bill is currently running at the equivalent to a lovely pair of Louboutin heels and that's without the teeth he needs extracting which is on hold till he's better!! So I'm SYCing again!! x

Oh, Im SO sorry! Its really hard when our babies are ill....He'll be in our prayers and here's to a speedy recovery!

Julie no they don't offer payment plan and I don't think the insurance will cover it either as he's had it before but I shall ring and check tomorrow x

Oh so sorry to hear that! I hate it when our fur babies get sick! I've currently got one - Kiki, who is hiding from me under the bed because he thinks I'm going to give him another pill, or drops, or a shot, or something! I don't really blame him. Sending good thoughts Marley's way!

Thankfully he's fine in himself and the tablets I have to give him have powder in them so can be broken open and poured over his food x

From what I'm aware Louise, providing your Marley was not diagnosed at the time you took out the insurance you should be covered. I will keep my fingers crossed.

It was Marley after Marley's ghost in A Christmas Carol? BF suggested the name and I loved it.
He had cystitis in 2007 and 2008 and they ask for a copy of medical history when processing a claim so I'm thinking they will try to wriggle out of paying as he has suffered with it before will ring anyway x

Oh no, poor kitty Mine will NOT eat if we mix her pills with food so I have to burrito her up and force them down her throat, ugh. Hope Marley is more cooperative and recovers quickly. I don't know what is worse: being the sick pet or being the poor (literally and figuratively) parent who has to see them suffer. Give her a scratch under the chin for me.

Oh no, your poor furbaby. My kitten (who is now nearly 12) had this a couple of years back and it is horrible to see them so uncomfortable and unwell.

You probably are anyway, but I just thought I'd mention it just in case..... Are you feeding him good quality kibble? Whenever we feed Flynny (our cat) the supermarket stuff, his cystitis always comes back, but since swapping to Iams (or equiv), he has been fine.

Anyway, I hope your insurance covers him, that he feels much better soon and your wallet isn't much lighter.

On no, Louise! Here's hoping Marley feels better soon. I know very well how hard (and expensive) it is when one of our furbabies gets sick.

For what it helps, my vet suggested coating pills in melted butter before giving them to my sick kitty. It made it much easier to poke them down his throat.

Laughing, Maya, at the thought of Kitty Burrito:) I imagine a tightly wrapped blanket, tail hanging out one end and kitty face on the other, with the laid-flat ears and the glare only a cat can give.

Louise, I hope your poor kitty is feeling better soon. To expand on what Katie suggested, have you considered cat food specifically designed for urinary tract problems? I used to feed my cat Purina One and I see that they have a Urinary Tract Health formula. Give Marley a big hug for me!

Update~ phoned the insurance and they are sending me a claim form though she says the claims department may not pass it because he's suffered before got to arrange for them to have a copy of his full medical history!! Thanks for all the knd words and support x

My cats won't take medicine in their food no matter how I doctor it. I could put it in Caviar...they are wise to it:(

Thanks everyone. We are off to the vets for the ultrasound in a bit. Hence why I'm up at 7.30am which is pretty unheard of for me!!!! xxx
