O/T nude lip - am I the last person to try this?

I admit up front to not being a lipstick wearer, and the few glosses or balms I have tint my natural color a step darker. They are usually Cocoa or Coffee or similar.
Well . . . a friend gave me a 16 hr lip stain type thing a few weeks back. I tried it and it was horrifically dark on me lol. Fast forward to last week and I bought a color called Sand. http://www.soap.com/p/maybelli.....agpspn=pla Ends up to be basically nude on me. Not sure if I like it or not . . .
Do any of you sport the nude lip? Is this passe? I don't wear much makeup in general, so it's not like I'm offsetting a smoky eye lol.

I like the nude lip, even if it a bit passe. But the Sand looks pretty pink to me. Maybe more natural than nude...

I don't wear nude lips because it just doesn't look good on me. I need a little color(pink is my preference). As far as nude lippies, I think that its a hard color to wear because it has to be just right otherwise it will wash you out. Natural is not a word I would use for nude(although many beauty magazines do) because having nude color lips is just not "natural". I wouldn't suggest it if you are minimal makeup wearer either. For something that looks like your lips, I would stick with brownish pink that mimics your lip color and its generally flattering on everyone. My friend who doesn't wear much makeup uses lipstick like that

Lately I've been doing a nude lip. I can't do the smokey eye anymore. I wear Laura Mercier lip glace in bare biege

I played with it a couple times in the past but it does not work for me. Probably because my natural lip color is pretty dark already, so nude is several shades lighter than normal. Plus I do not have very strong facial features so making them even more neutral is not a good idea.

I love a nude lip with a well defined eye! I also love the pinky beige Mac "Viva Glam 5" and Nars "Dolce Vita"

I have dark lips. I can use a lip primer to blank out the color and then do nude on top of that but I never found one that looked nice. I can do pale pinks though. I usually prefer colors that are similar to my natural lips or just a little more pink or red. I can't really be bothered to reapply all the time and I find that shades too far off from my natural lips wear away badly.

I like a "nude" lip when it is just a dash more colorful than the rest of the face. Some pics show it as the same color as the skin, which I find to look rather sickly unless the eyeshadow is very dramatic.

No idea if it's passe or not.

No you are not the last person to try this Mo:) I have't tried a nude lipstick or gloss yet either. Red lipstick is kind of part of my style persona and I don't see myself moving to a nude gloss anytime soon.

My lips are fairly pigmented, so for a long time I thought to get a "nude" lip I needed something a lot lighter than my natural color. I tried pink, I tried cream, and it just always ends up looking like.. my skin. Which could be OK if I didn't wear just simple black mascara So my light nude is a deep pinky-orange peach, and a sheer red works as a slightly- deeper-than-my-natural-color shade. I think the nude effect would vary from person to person. How is this color on you? Is it "your lip color but better" or is it actually lighter than your natural color?

I pretty much only wear a nude lip, and for me it's more of a natural pink. Definitely my lip color of choice. I like Clinique's Pink-a-Boo.

I have naturally a bit of color to my lips. It is lighter than my natural color - and just a tad pink, not like concealer beige. I'd show a pic but I have a facial rash right now
I have larger eyes, lips, and (boo) nose, but a narrow face with no facial bones to speak of - so I'm not sure if it's the best move. Will have to take a pic once my rash is gone.

I do a smokey eye every day, with bare lips most of the time. But when I'm feeling sort of fancy :), I will add a nude-ish lip color. So I say go for it!

I think my lips must be fairly pigmented too, because some of the paler, pinky-beige-ish colours don't work out so well.

My very best "nude" lip colour is Burt's Bees lip balm in Pomegranate:

I sometimes apply a slightly redder lipstick on top of that, or maybe a rose-ish colour, but for the most part - this particular balm is the *perfect* nude lip colour for me. It only has the barest hint of colour and it works well on me. Highly recommended!

Nope. To be honest, I don't get it. Why try to make your lips blend in with your face? Then you can't see them. I thought the whole point of lipstick was to define the lips. Young girls generally have lips that are markedly darker than their facial skin, and it's very pretty. Lips tend to fade out as we get older. I darken mine, either with bright colour like red or a more muted colour that mimics what my natural lip colour once was, to liven up my kisser, lol.

Sometimes I do a nude lip by default because my lips are, in fact, bare.

I know I'm late getting back to this, but my rash is a little better, so . . .
This is no makeup at all (#1) and then no makeup except for the Sand colored lips (#2).

I can't tell a difference between #1 and #2! So I guess the nude lipstick succeeds in being, well, nude.

Lol Elisabeth! Maybe it would come across better with an actual made up face instead of my splotchy bare skin. Is this is a better pic? At least it has a bit of shine I guess.

It's pretty, but it just looks like Vaseline to me! You have great shape and plumpness to your lips, and I don't think the nude look is passe yet.

I guess I think of the nude as meaning a neutral lip (so, certainly not matching one's skin, and not matching one's lips necessarily), so a little hint of color that looks pretty understated and just kind of heightens or boosts your own lip color. It could be all sorts of different colors, depending on your skin tone and your natural lip color.

I use my nude lipstick (which came as a freebie) to tone down my very dark ones. I would never wear it straight.

I think its a bit light for your skintone and I think it blends into the rest of your face too much. I would go with something one shade darker. You have great lips, by the way, that were just made to wear lipstick;)

I like it Mo! I think it mainly accomplishes a more even tone to your lips with some shine.

I primarily wear a nude lip these days, and use Jonesy's definition of nude being neutral on me (not rose, plum, red, coral, pink, etc.). I just feel too made up wearing a color. If I do a color though, it's bright pink

I have been wearing MaxFactor 'Lipfinity' in a fairly pale colour that blends with my inner lip colour for years. Love it because it lasts until you wash it off at the end of the day.
Just wish it was around when I was first dating and actually got kissed occasionally, 'cause it would have stayed on then too
