OT: My Next Trip

My next overseas trip away is in September/October and I will be heading to YLF Land...

The purpose of the trip is to attend our friends' wedding (NZ guy, American girl) in Sonoma. However, before that we are doing a cruise leaving from ... wait for it ... Seattle, doing the Inside passage in Alaska, finishing in Vancouver where we will stay for 3 days before flying down to San Francisco and staying 5 nights in Sonoma.

Any suggestions of where to go, what to eat and of course where to shop (Nordstroms is already on the list) greatly appreciated...

Ooh how fun!

Sonoma is wine county so if you like wine, doing some wine tasting might be fun!

oh yes, you can't come to Northern California without hitting some wineries
I would do some searching on the Bed and Breakfasts in Sonoma and do that. I"ve never stayed in Sonoma though so can't recommend one.

We already have all of our accommodation booked and are staying in a B&B in Sonoma. My husband and I both love wine, so some tasting is already on the list - does the Napa Valley match Martinborough will be the question answered...

If you like quirky, are vegetarian or have an inner hippie- a run through Sebastopol would be fun. We used to live in that area and that is a fun little town.

Oh I will have lots to say on this topic! I must run to work but can give lots of input re: Sonoma and Napa and my parents know lots of good places. Khris is right about Sebastopol. Lots of fun little towns in Sonoma.

How many days are you in the Sonoma area? Will you have a car?

We are in Sonoma Tuesday - Sunday. The wedding is on Friday and there is a BBQ on Saturday afternoon.

We will have a car.

Yes, like both of those. We (well me in particular) are both foodies as well and we love art galleries too.

We are also planning trips in Sept and Oct - but nothing definite because our timing depends on circumstances which are not sorted yet. Have you got dates, Fi?

Angie - yes, we do have dates all confirmed. We are only in Seattle very briefly on the 24th/25th September and then we are not back in London until the beginning of October - so I know that I may not be able to catch up with you in either place!
